Too busy saving up for the baby to play. My poor Xbox is gathering dust. :(

Got it, playing it. Not overly impressed. Expected more. Hate the car physics. Some of the animations are weird looking. Looking forward to Mercs 2 this August.

I'm kind of interested in playing it, but with only a Wii and a PC, it looks like I'm out of luck for a while. I've heard a bunch of stuff about it on the radio with people lauding, among other things, the quality of the audio - namely the voice acting for the dialog. Yet any time I hear a clip of it, it always sounds pretty fake. Anybody else? -Dan.

Been playing it now for a little over 15 hours and am loving it. The car physics are more "real" this time, so it is a bit harder to control for those used to cartoony type car racing games. The missions are a lot of fun and the new innovations in the game really are a plus. Things like the cell phone, going on dates, events, completely random side missions, the dating aspect, the Internet additions, and so many more things. My wife just finished playing 'Bully' for the X360 and now is ready to start on GTA4, so I will be getting her her own copy.

ORIGINAL: Brandy Earthless, I have to disagree with the car physics being more "real". If they were "real" they would be different for each car, depending on the type/body/build etc. Instead they are what we call "jello'd" or "marshmallow", they have a very Jello like quality to their controls. It's no where near realistic and by far the most annoying part of the game for me so far. The physics guys at his office were laughing with how uncontrollable these cars are when I was there over the weekend. They are working on a project that has had some physics issues with the vehicles but they are striving for better controls after seeing GTA's work. Disclaimer: I haven't played the game, so I may just be talking out of my backside... I've played real car simulators that seemed to be like this - I believe that actual cars are more "marshmallowy" than we normally think. While driving a car, the environment around us provides a lot more feedback to us regarding visual, sound, and motion/acceleration/vibration cues than a video game could ever hope to. This feedback, when combined with the superior controlling ability (and feedback through the power steering system) of an actual steering wheel allows us a MUCH greater degree of control and accuracy than we're going to find in any video game outside of a full-sized simulator. The actual movements we make while driving a car are really rather small, with many commands (accelerate, brake, steer, shift, signal, etc) being executed simultaneously w/o much thought. For the most part, car games have greatly simplified the sensitivity and overall scope of the input controls (for good reason). If we executed the same small steering motions in most games, we'd go in a straight line and if we executed extreme game-like controls in real life, we'd be rolling our cars over all the time. Not to get too OT, but since we're talking about cars, I just got Mario Kart for the Wii this weekend. It's a lot of fun, but I don't think the distribution of weapons is quite as good as it was on Mario Kart 64. -Dan.

We just downloaded the expansion to Overlord. I really just like it when they praise me !!! Expansion to Mass Effect?? where?? Haven't heard anything about it. Our Xbox was in the shop though for a few weeks so could have missed it. We were so bumming without it that we caved and got a PS3 and got Ratchet and Clank. That's a fun game. Dan, I agree about real life driving vs game driving. But this system is so much different than the last GTA Edition that it's frustrating. Find a friend who has it and play for a while and give me some feedback. I am totally open to the fact that I have become pre-biased based on husbands game that I'm sure that's part of the problem in my playing GTA this time around. But there is something off about it. I mean I used to be able to drive in GTA and not fish tail around EVERY corner. Or launch into the air off a curb. And I didn't take down nearly as many telephone poles or trees. Speaking of.. ok this is maddening. WHY is a light pole easily knocked over but a FENCE is concrete? Or a sapling in a park is concrete but the telephone pole next to it isn't??? Oh my gosh makes me so mad to be plowing around and bam stop dead by a 3 inch tree or park bench or postal box or newspaper box. grr.

I do agree with you because it is true... the driving is a bit different and more of a pain this time around than in previous GTA's. quote:
