We have learned that when the weather man says a chance an for isolated tornado to watch out we will get nailed.

That was close to me in Oklahoma, are you ok in Missouri? look at Ada and Mcalester on map, and it will show you how close we are.

yeah we are OK. I was worried for a little while when I could not tell if the tornado was going to hit here or not. It went just south of us but we got the wind and sideways rain.

There are so many tornados lately. The May 3rd 1999 Tornado, destructed Oklahoma City, it looked like a war zone. People there are still so frightened. The bad thing is if a rain drop falls in OKC area doppler radar and weather men stay on it twenty four seven. If a Tornado is coming outside of OKC area, they might mention it. I am serious, they are still so terrified with reason, and everytime bad weather in OKC the power is knocked out for days in oKC area, sometimes in thousands of homes, making bills soar, I do not blame my fellow Okies for that though, just OG&E. So glad you are safe.

Our big tornado time was May 4th 2003. We had 2 town destroyed by tornadoes and several others were heavily damaged. They said we had 384 tornado warnings in a four day period. Stockton is the same way about the weather. If there is a tornado warning any where near them they sound the sirens even if it is in the next county over.

It does beg the question why so many deaths? Were there not sirens or other alert systems in place in those areas?

Some died in their cars since it the Tornadoes were traveling along two major highways and a few died in their homes. They are saying it is surprising that the death toll was not higher. The tornadoes hit F4 http://www.ky3.com/news/local/18851294.html strength and there is not much that is sufficient shelter outside a read tornado shelter for that. Back in 2003 in Pierce City the
armory was the designated tornado shelter but the building was destroyed.
