"We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person? Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions." (1 John 3:16-18)
God's ways and thoughts -- which He says are higher than ours as the heavens are higher than the earth -- are paradoxical compared to the rationale of our carnal minds. Die to live, lose to gain, give to get. Our intellects scream, NOOO! to God's ways and thoughts! Don't help those in financial need, the haughty and pride-filled carnal mind pontificates. But, "the mind of the Spirit" trumpets forth just the opposite.
King David, a man after God's own heart, said that at the top of the list of the top seven things God hates is HAUGHTINESS, PRIDE, or ARROGANCE! Far different than the list even believers would make when asked to list the top seven things God hates.
At this Thanksgiving season we can be thankful that the richest and wealthiest of all -- God Almighty Himself -- did not in pride and ascendancy look down from Heaven upon our POOR, YEA, BANKRUPT estate and arrogantly say, "Let those pitiful POOR people help themselves! I got mine; let them get theirs the same way I did!"
Rather, God looked upon our helplessness and hopelessness and thundered through the Heavens His thoughts toward us, not with mere words, but with ACTIONS:
"For God so loved the world that He GAVE His only begotten Son!"
The Divine Response to our spiritual bankruptcy was that God GAVE HIS BEST!
Why? Because God had a need! He needed US to love and to be loved in eternal communion!
If you have the world's goods and can help others in this Thanksgiving and Christmas Season, it's the best birthday gift you could possibly give to Jesus! And, the kicker is: YOU CAN'T OUT GIVE HIM! He will always give you more than you can give out or give away!
It is guaranteed that whether you are aware of it or not, YOU too have a need! There are a multiplicity of things you need that you are not even aware at this moment you desperately NEED!
GIVE to others in their type of need and God promises to meet your type of need in return! God says that when you give to others in their time of financial need you are LENDING to God, and God WILL repay. You'll be out NOTHING!
TRY IT! PROVE ME NOW IN THIS, says the Lord!"
