PORT BYRON, Illinios -- When you think of people's pets...you think of dogs, cats, fish...maybe even a bird. But one Port Byron couple has a pet bird that's anything but traditional...and it's got the town talking. If you listen very carefully outside of Donna and Bob Wilson's home...you may just hear the strange sound of their pet defending his territory. "(squawk) There he is. In the spring he does it a lot. They had him on the radio the other day...squawking," says Donna. The squawking star is, Oscar, a wild peacock who stopped roaming and made his home in the Wilson's bird sanctuary 4 years ago. So... he's outside? Big deal. My parents' neighbors have peacocks, too. Now, there was a story about a couple that had a miniature HORSE as an indoor pet. No joke. Then, of course, there are the stories of pet pigs...

Domesticated peacocks are more common than I think most people realize.

We had a neighbor who had one when I was young. Those birds are incredibly loud.

The neighbor with the peacock was a half mile away but when the bird started calling it sounded like a woman making blood curdling screams.

There are a few peacocks running around our city. They're quite annoying.

I live in a relatively small city (50,000), that, while growing, still has quite a bit of farm and country surrounding it. Quite a few people have peacocks. I honestly don't see the big deal.

To have a peacock, one must of necessity have a peahen.

I lived in rural areas before but peacocks were a rarity.

Peacocks are a pain - they are so noisy. I had a wild turkey in my yard a few years ago
