I"m 28 years old and my father died when I was 10 years old.

Well, for several years now, at random times I have a dream and my father is in it. Yet, instead of having the typical dream where there's some type of story involving him, I see him in my dream and even though there may have been a story to the dream, I end up crying when I see him.

Now, when I say I'm crying, I do not mean that I"m crying in my dream as a part of the story going on. I mean that I, as though I was awake am crying. Now, I use "crying" very lightly because it's more than that. In my sleep I'm feeling an aweful pain in my heart. And I am screaming bloody murder, "Daddy!" And I continue to scream "Ahhhhh" at the top of my lungs. It's like I'm screaming for him to come back but the fact that I know that it's impossible for him to come back, makes me scream even more. The pain I feel in my heart is seriously unbearable. It's a grieving that cannot be explained.

When my father died, I didn't cry like this. I cried when I heard about his death and that was the last time. I've cried other times - I'm crying now.
I don't know why I"m having these types of experiences recently. I've even had them when my uncle who is the closest person I would associate with my father.

I don't know what to do. Obviously I miss him, but why do I have these experiences. And why now? I feel like there is nothing I can do. Even when I'm sleeping, it's like my crying isn't helping because it's obvious I will not see him 'til Jesus returns or I go to be with him.

I'm sorry...that must be heartbreaking.

Do you think about your dad before you go to sleep, or think about things you used to do with your dad? A lot of times you dream about what's going on in your life or what you're thinking about before you go to sleep.

It violates TOS to interpret someone's dream on this forum, just so you know. No one will repond with that kind of answer for you.

Perhaps you can try thinking abou things you want to dream about before you go to sleep, like eating chocolate cake or vacationing. But, definetely try to keep your dad out of your mind before bed.

Could it be possible you are still grieving your loss, since you really didnt' release it at the time of his death? I ask this simply because you said you cried once, but it doesn't sound like you really grieved your loss.
BTW: I am sorry you are experiencing this

That was what I thought, that you were now grieving your loss, and realizing at some level that you really needed him. It is a wonderful thing that God is Father to the fatherless. Reach out to Him. I am praying for Him to comfort you.

Praying for you. I, too, was young when the Lord called my Daddy home (I was 14).

I have dreamed of him. Once, I was going through some difficult trials, and I asked the Lord for encouragement. That night, I went to sleep, and began dreaming. In my dream, I was sitting on a rock, holding my face with my hands and just a crying. I loooked up, and saw a well dressed man walk slowly by. He turned to face me, and I could plainly see it was my Daddy. He said, "What is wrong, son?" I replied, "My burdens and trials are so heavy, and I don't know how I can make it through". He patted me on the shoulder, and said "Son, just stick with Jesus and you'll make it". I then woke up, and had extra strength and grace to cope with my trials.

I thank God that one day I'll see him again.

Happy Father's day, Daddy.
