I am concerned about someone who professes to be a Christian and yet does not believe the complete Word of God (i.e. the complete Bible).

What can you say (if anything) to help someone who believes only in the death and resurrection of Christ and everything else is almost disregarded?

Please help if you can by giving me advice on how to respond to someone with this belief and please pray that I can do so in love and patiently. The Lord knows who this person is.

They believe in the death and resurrection of Christ but they don't believe in the devil nor any of the OT books of the Bible nor anything after the Gospels.

As I understand it this person believes in salvation and not much else. You could ask him why he can believe the gospels but not any of the other books of the bible. This will give you an idea where they are coming from. It would help them to accept the word of God if you would show them how Christ was foretold in the old testament. And how the other books of the new testament show how the great commission is to be fulfilled. Also the bible shows how God's word applies in real life when the rubber meets the road. But above all be tactful do not get in a an arguement with them. Let this person know that even though you don't agree with them you will be there for them. One last thing pray that God gives you more understanding of his word and that they also recieve more understnding.

Jesus said man must live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. You can't have faith in someone if you don't believe what they say. Faith requires an action or behavior that reflects what is claimed. John the Baptist told the Pharisees to bring forth fruit meet for repentance. Their actions were not reflecting what they were claiming. John called a duck a duck. I heard a preacher once say we better possess what we profess. So if you know people whose lifestyles are not reflecting the salvation of God, ask them how they can claim Christ as their savior when they don't believe what he teaches. If they truly desired to be saved, then they'll receive the truth. If, however, they only want to claim they're saved and believe only that which soothes their conscience, as Paul said, deliver them over to satan.

Think you are right Bub. Thanks for the advice.

I don't want to give up on this person and will most certainly continue to pray for them but they don't desire to listen to the truth from anyone. They say they have spent the last 60 years coming to this conclusion of theirs and as far as I see now - nothing is going to budge them other than the Holy Spirit and prayer.

Many thanks

Many people have a false understanding of God. Some think that Jesus died for our sins so they will go to heaven just for believing that. They were taught that you can sin all you want its covered. But if they say they are 'saved' ask them what they are saved from if they dont believe in hell and other teachings of Jesus for all that is in the Gospels. And like it was said Pray Pray Pray. Also remember that there is a point that if they wont accept your witness you need to shake the dust off your feet. There really is nothing we can do when people fight the Holy Spirit. Only the Lord can deal with them.

Tell them they believe Jesus was either a liar or a lunatic or both.

Because He spoke about Satan and the demonic realm MANY times. Jesus referenced the OT MANY times.

What a bunch of kooks.

60 years???? That is a HUGE wall of doubt and unbelief but nothing is impossible for God. Just pray for them and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in the matter.

(John 12:48) - 48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

(2Thess.1:7-9) - 7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

That about says it all. it is very convincing to the good and honest heart (Luke 8:15).
