God Bless America I hear this and it is starting to make me mad.....
God has blessed us and H blesses us and we dont even see His GREAT blessing He gives us everyday. We need to start blessing Him.So will anyone join me in blessing God?

I try everyday to do something that will be a bessing to someone that needs a lift up. I think some times we think God should hand us what we ask for on a sliver dish.......
We need to start looking a little hard for Gods blessing.

Change the word blessing to thanking, and I believe you'll be saying what you mean to say. We can't bless God. Here's a thought, that Thanksgiving (not all the rich foods, football, family gatherings), but giving thanks to God should be a year-round thing, not a one-day holiday.

Psalm 103 ...

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name.

Amen!!

When I hear or read God bless America...I pray it back to God with a thankful heart for all his blessings he has blessed our nation with. I'd much rather God get the glory for the blessings he gives and continues to bless us with, rather than any earthly men who try to steal his glory. Three simple words (easy for the lost to remember) that may cause others who don't know the Lord God, to maybe for the first time look to him and cry out "God bless America." Many are looking at a man who was elected to be a blessing to our nation, but it's not by his power to bless us. May God (always) bless America...in Jesus name. I hope those 3 small words are never discarded they remind us that God does bless America. It's not saying, God does not bless us. I don't hear it as a command to God, but a confirmation that he is the one who blesses us. "If we will pray and turn from our wicked ways...he will heal our land." Healing is a blessing!

OK lets go at this another way.......

We can bless God by the way we act. If we live as Christ did we bless God. But do we or are we just in it for what we can get for ourself. This is my prayer is o be more like Him (Christ) and less like me.(self)

I dont need any glory here on earth yes it nice to here nice things from others from time to time.
All we really need is to know that God loves us and we need to love Him back.

God has truly blessed America. But have we lost our moral compass in recent times? It seems to me we are not the Godly nation we once were. The Christian foundations put in place by our founding fathers are crumbling. Today, we need to be on our knees in prayer asking forgiveness as stated in 2 Chronicles 7:14

(NIV)If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Do you agree? Any feedback?

America richly deserves God's judgement (see Deut. 28). The culture has turned from Him and chases other gods (money, power, sex, self-indulgence). I have been praying for God's mercy and revival, both for America and Western Civilization. We have a rich tradition in Christianity, and we're pretty post-Christianity now.

Those who know Him will have opportunities to share their faith with those who become full of their own sin or are victimized by others.

May God have mercy and turn the nations back to Him.

None of this is new. In 1776, we were NOT founded as a Christian nation. We endorsed slavery of the black race, we were trying genocide on Native Americans. Thomas Jefferson wrote "all men were created equal", yet he owned slaves. The morals we need are not rooted in the past, they are ones we have yet to establish for this nation. God can not bless us until we stop pretending we're on a higher plane than other nations are.

Other nations are no less blessed than we are; it's ridiculous to say God bless America when we have not provided for the needy, or explain why the USA continues to fight endless wars.

How many people own slaves today - and how did that come about? I'll give you a hint, more Americans lost their lives during that war than ALL other American wars before or since COMBINED.

Actually, you must mean the Civil War? I was referring to the Revolutionary War.

I was asking about the why and when the practice ended.

The grand experiment of America was not perfect from the beginning and it never will be. But the founders gave us the tools to correct it's shortcomings.

Officially? Slavery ended in 1863, but in actuality, it lasted longer. One could say that the American blacks as sharecroppers afterward was a form of slavery. It is obvious to me that you're intelligent and I thank you for responding to my posts. But I don't agree that our founding fathers gave us the tools, Thomas Jefferson said "Christianity offends us with it's many evils". I don't agree with him, but he did say that. Thomas Jefferson owned and admired a Q'uran. I'm not saying I deplore Jefferson, but none of us are perfect, including the founding fathers.

Did you know that the reason Great Britain didn't align itself with the Confederate States was because it endorsed slavery? Britain had outlawed slavery long before the USA did.

The intentions of our founding fathers is evident throughout Washington.

Before America, as a corporate entity, can bless the Lord, America, as a corporate entity, needs to repent of the apostasy of 1789,[0] and formally recognize that Jesus is Lord. The Reformed Presbyterian Church in North America has, since 1848, recommended a constitutional amendment to do just that.

I don't know what it will take to move us from point A to point B -- but suspect that it may be quite traumatic. Secularism is a parasite that depends on the character of a predominantly Christian culture to further its aims of concentrating political and financial power into as few hands as possible. This can only continue until that seed corn is consumed, until that capital is gone. We may be very nearly there. 90% or so of Christian parents prefer the religion of secular humanism to Christianity.[1] Our divorce and fornication rates are just about the same as those of the unchurched. The vast majority of our children walk away from church soon after leaving home.[2]

I am reminded of Ernest Hemingway's description of how bankruptcy happens: "First very slowly, then very quickly." England went from the matrix that produced C. S. Lewis, Dorothy Sayers J. R. R. Tolkein, and other great defenders of the Christian faith to a predominantly secular nation, with single-digit percentiles of church attenders, in one generation.

Are we at a tipping point? If so, what are our alternatives to "going down with the ship?"

[0] The U. S. Constitution was formally consecrated to a new deity, "We the people" -- that is, "We, the lawyers, politicians, bankers, and their well-connected friends." Just to make sure that God got the message that His attention was unwelcome, the "no test oath" clause made it illegal for holders of civic office to pledge allegiance to any deity other than The State.

[1] They demonstrate this prior commitment to the secularists' vision of "the real world" by entrusting the souls, minds, and faith of their children to secular indoctrination 30 hours a week, 180 days a year.

[2] More than 90% of evangelical children raised by secular humanists no longer think like Christians, according to Project Jeremiah's meticulous research. More that 90% of evangelical children raised by their Christian parents, OTOH, want to raise their own children the same way.
