The aritclcle said; quote:

Thanks RC

Happiness is a human state of being. Joyfulness is a spiritual state of being. Happiness is fleeting. Joyfulness is eternal. I'll take joy. -Dave

Well Americans, especially those on the far right, claim our country is sliding into the abyss of moral decay, so how could one feel happy with that!

Staying on topic, I'd like to know how Denmark really came across as being the happiest country in the world. According to the article, they only asked two simple questions. How do you determine happiness out of that? My thoughts to even though I posted it. ; )

He was interviewed on NPR -you can find it on his website. Peace and God bless,

ORIGINAL: mapachito13 Well congrats Wormheat but I'll stay here in the US because I can't speak Danish! BTW, what are the laws on people owning firearms? Or am I opening yet another can of worms! (No offense! ) But all Danes speak english, so you can get by fine Gunlaws are much stricter than in the US. Basically the avarage Joe cannot just buy a gun. We have no gun-stores as in the US - only huntingstores have rifles. If you want to have a firearm in the home, however, there are some legal ways. One is to join the Homeguard - the Danish militia (not army) - and you will get to keep you assultrifle at home. You will also be booked up on training some weekends. Or you can get a hunters license. Then you can keep your rifle at home - but no guns, assultrifles etc. Finally you can join a local rifle association. After two years of membership and regular practice you can keep your gun at home. Basically very few people have guns in the house for defense. If you are caught with a firearm you shouldn't have, there is up to two years in prison as punishment. On the plusside we have very few shooting accidents and gun-related crime are lower, although some gang-types have recently stepped it up. Most violent deaths in Denmark is stabbings. WormHeart We had some exchange students from Germany and Denmark one summer. One was a girl of Korean ancestry who spoke only Danish and English. It is then that I also realized what a melting pot Europe is becoming. BTW, sounds like responsible gun laws. You can have them but you have to be trained first. Some states here in the US don't even have that. No wonder the rest of the world still thinks we're a bunch of cowboys. Our current President does nothing to dispel that image either. Of course he's from Texas too!
