Today is a difficult day. The post brought some unwelcome news and my heart has been heavy concerning someone I love dearly. Last night, I read Psalm 84: 1-6 1 How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD Almighty! 2 My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. 3 Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young— a place near your altar, O LORD Almighty, my King and my God. 4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. Selah 5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you, who have set their hearts on pilgrimage. 6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. I have found myself going back and forth to verse 6 in particular throughout today. So often when we are going through trials and difficulties, we become discouraged, downhearted and defeated. We temporarily forget that the Lord is still on His throne and nothing but nothing enters our lives without Him allowing it because He can bring good out of a bad situation (Romans 8:28). Today has been one of those days where I have drawn strength from the Lord through prayer, praise and God's promises. Hallelujah. If it wasn't for the Lord - where would we be? Psalm 124:1-5 When we pass through our own personal 'Valleys of Baca' so to speak - do we leave pools of refreshing for others who will walk this way? Do we leave springs behind us which will refresh and encourage others? What do we leave behind? The Lord has been teaching me to keep my eyes on Him in this storm. Not to look around at the circumstances which threaten to pull me under but to keep my eyes focussed on His. It is my prayer today that no matter what my future holds, that the Lord will take and use my life to bring His pools of refreshing to others who likewise will go through similar difficulties. That is my prayer in my situation - that I will be able to encourage others in the same way as the Lord has encouraged me during my difficulty. I want to leave behind pools of refreshing likewise when I pass through this valley.

Praying encouragement on your soul today. Praying for the Holy Spirit's refreshment, comfort and peace in your soul. He is able.
