I recently had blood in the toilet when i went to the bathroom.I dont
have hemoroids so my doctor is sending me to the specialist to set up
a colonostopy.I had one in 2000 with minor pollops only.
I will be 62 in july.Any one had any experiences like this in relation to
cancer?

I would say it was the normal color of blood[if thats bright red].My
family doctor is concerned because there was no pain as in hemmoroids.
I had hemmoroids 30 years ago.
I am concerned because cancer runs heavy from my mothers side of the
family. So many men i have known from here and working in wisconsin
have had colon cancer.A good friend of mine in wisconsin just had
surgery for colon cancer[he is 64 and i will be 62 in july].

You are so wise to go to the doctor. May the Lord greatly bless the doctor's wisdom and understanding as he/she figures this out for you. Also, may our great Lord fill you with much peace, that which passes understanding, as you trust Him to be your All in all.

That it's bright red is a good sign!! The further "up" the GI tract the darker the blood, which is digested in part by the bowels and turned dark and very odorous. A dark bleed is often suggestive of a stomach or small bowel GI bleed, mass, etc. Whereas bright red bleeds are often resultant from a large bowel bleed or mass, which are often easier to operate on and carrier fewer risks of adverse events.

Either way I suppose this is a scary discovery for you. All the best to you. A colonoscopy is a good way to go. If you have a history of colon cancer and you are over the age of 50, it's a good idea to schedule recurrent scopes (the doctor may suggest a good schedule for you, e.g. every 2/5/etc. years).

I have experienced blood in the toilet and I'm a male, here's a word of advice to any male who has blood in toilet, get a colonoscopy, if you bleed everytime you go, they discovered I had internal hemmoroids, also I had lost two thrids of my blood supply and was at deaths door, they gave me a blood transfusion, I received four units of blood, lifegiving invigorating blood, I could feel the energy and strength return to my body.
