I'm so emotional! I don't know where to put this and I want to share with somebody my crazy life! Can I tell you how crazy it is? I like meeting people. I enjoy figuring them out and seeing where people are spiritually. But I'm kind of funny because if I think you're a stuffed shirt big wig, you can intimidate me and I won't feel comfortable around you. You can be important w/a title and be a fun person too, I think! I like those kinds of people. Doesn't everyone like to meet people they think are important even if it really doesn't matter because the most important person is Jesus! This is just for fun for a regular 'ol gal who sings for free!

Since coming to Mexico, I've gotten to know some formerly famous people or famous people. Or who cares, but it's cool! One of my friends used to be a famous rock star in Denmark. I met him here in Mexico right after he got saved. His name is The Gorm. He's a cool friend and producer.

I've had dinner with a famous Latin worship artist, but I didn't know it at the time how famous he is. He probably doesn't remember me now but it was a honor. His name is Danilo Montero and he is one of the artists that help bring modern worship to Latin America.

I've become friends with a brother of famous worship artists who lives here in Guadalajara and has done some work for us. Just interesting who he was related to because we befriend him without knowing who his brother is, Miguel Casina also one that help bring modern worship to Latin America.

Through myspace, I've gotten acquainted with some people from Vineyard, Saddleback and Hillsongs. Talk about our world getting smaller because of the internet.

This is just silliness and I know that I get emotional about it because I think these are 'important' people. Is there anyone that you felt was 'important' that you were excited to meet or become friends with?

The common factor with all these people, which I believe were divine appointments, all tie to worship. Somehow God has just brought them to my life. I think that when we walk in what God has called us to do, He brings those who can help us to us. Don't you think so too?

Hmmmm...

It'd be cool to meet the country singer Paul Brandt and his wife. They go to a church we just started going to, but the church is so large I am sure we will never even see them. Their house will be 10 minutes away from our new place when we move so maybe... just maybe my car will break down near their land and I will need to use their phone.

I've met band members from a Christian band before (Ghoti Hook... not around anymore). It was neat at the time cuz I was only 16 and my dad picked them up at the airport so I got to spend time with them. They were goofy and hyper just like I expected. I've also met band members from other bands, but I wasn't interested in their music at the time so I can't remember who they even were.

Hmmm. I've met NFL players who were also real estate investors when I was in the business world, but I couldn't tell ya their names now, can't remember, LOL!

One of my business partners (again, when I was working) was one of the bachelors on "The Bachelorette" a few seasons ago. He made it all the way to the finale. But she didn't pick him! That was interesting, but some of the "watch parties" he had were fun.

Before we moved here we went to church with a major country music star and his family. But I don't want to throw around names on the internet. I sang with him for a Christmas concert at our church, we fellowshipped a lot with their family (his wife had great ladies auxiliary pool parties!) And their daughter was in our youth group while hubby and I were youth sponsors, etc.

I got to meet PFR (my favorite all-time Christian group!!!!!) a few years ago when they had a CD signing at a Christian bookstore. They were awesome, very friendly and funny.

Also met Kathy Troccoli and Phillips, Craig and Dean after a concert, years ago.

Oh! And I shook hands with Al Roker on the Today show in NYC a few years ago! You know, the big crowd of people always outside the studio, I was in it! LOL

But only a couple of those were truly personal relationships, not just meeting in passing. It's fun to meet those people, some I found to be superficial, some were very pleasant and felt very natural to be around.

YES, we want you to throw around names! This is fun!!!

That's cool Nicole! I think you should just pop over and borrow a cup of sugar, since you're practically neighbours!

I forgot that I was asked and opened for an Abel Zebala concert here in Guadalajara a couple of years ago. From that concert people started to recognize me, and that was neat and embarrassing! I became friends with his wife and she calls me her friend. ahhh One time, I took a girl home who made me take her to the church to show me off. The response from the girls there was embarrassing. I said, "Calm down. I'm not anybody. I'm just like you." They'd seen me first on the platform and thought I was somebody, haha. I'm a housewife!

OH!!! I can't believe I forgot this one!!!!

When I was in high school, FFH was just coming up, still doing a lot of local gigs and not well-known yet. They performed at several of our youth rallies, and one year our tiny little church invited them in for a community concert at the local armory in our tiny town of 4,000. We had so much fun setting up with them, eating dinner with them, etc. They even kept in touch by email for a while, until they got really busy. And then later, they got a new member, someone I knew from our denomination and went to the same college!

Here's one of my most EMBARRASSING moments around famous people! LOL I'm crazy! The day after I was embarrassed ALL morning over this. We flew home for a WM's conference and my brother bought my family and I tickets to hear Casting Crowns in 2005. Building 429 was opening and it was awesome! Afterwards, we hung around for photos and of course I tell them we're missionaries and at the time I had a Mexican band and I gave Mark Shultz my CD, not knowing he was songwriter of the year. Oh my gosh how embarrassing! Look what he did for me as a joke to show my Mexican band that he got a copy of my CD....

I recorded and sing one of FFH's songs You, Found Me in Spanish! It's a great song!

I met Geoff Moore the same way! He came to our church when he was just starting out and we passed out fliers together. I forgot about him. Bob Kilpatrick, In My Life Lord, Be Glorified, is my friend. We came from the same church.

Mercy me used to be the worship band at a specific conference we would go to as a youth group every year. They were so fantastic. They would eat with everyone and play rec games. This was before I can only imagine came out on the radio. It was funny because other christians would come to our group and we'd be singing that song and they would think it was so beautiful. We all knew they would make it when it hit the airwaves. We really enjoyed worshipping with them and fellowshipping with them.

There was another band named 40 days that took over the camps when Mercy Me got big. They were great too. Their testimony was so powerful. There was a shooting back in September 1999 at Wedgewood Baptist Church in I believe Texas. They were having a worship time and a gunman came in and started shooting. A lot of the kids thought it was a skit, so didn't react automatically by runninng and hiding. When they all finally realized what was happening, they ran and dove for cover. They had bullets in their equipment that should have hit them but got lodged in their equiment instead. One of the guys in the band wrote this song called "I run" in honor of those that lost thier lives. It was amazing talking to them and hearing their side.
This one also hits home for me because the night this happened was the night I asked Christ into my life. I didn't find out about this until the next day. I think it was a first good lesson for me that the road wouldn't always be easy, but that He will always be with me.

I've met a few athletes before - mostly Toronto athletes, plus one Olympic gold medal winner. I've also met a few secular music artists. We have a family friend who produces some pretty big shows here in Canada, so we've been fortunate to be at a lot of these shows and meet people.

I went to the same high school as someone who is now a very famous movie star. We weren't friends, we sat together in an English class but I found him to be a complete jerk so I was never really interested in talking to him. I went to an arts school, so there have been quite a few names to come out of the school, but no one I was ever close friends with, just people I knew in passing.

I met Sylvester Stallone once. He is part owner of a restaurant in San Francisco that my dad took me to. He was at the door greeting people. I was so excited when I saw him, and really nervous to shake his hand, even though I was never a big fan of his movies. He is pretty short, did ya'll know that?

My aunt used to live next door to Jerry Rice. At the time, he was with the 49ers, but he plays for the Raiders now. I saw him leaving in his car once and waved at him, and he waved back. I had butterflies, I was just so thrilled that HE waved at ME. LOL! My whole family was big 9er fans though.

I love you girls! We can be so real here! It's fun!

I'd like to spend a lunch with Joyce Meyer! I don't think I do very well. My knees would probably knock the whole time and I'd get sweaty palms and a racing heart! LOL Poor thing! That’s what happened when I had lunch with a cousin, who I think is important!

This is another reason why I wanted to start this thread. When I had dinner with Danilo, I didn’t know how famous he is! Good thing, I behaved myself and enjoyed his company. After dinner driving home my Mexican friend was yelling, “That was so cool! He’s SO FAMOUS!” That’s when I knew. It was like a Mexican going to dinner with Bill Gaither and not knowing who he is. LOL

I hesitate to post this . . . . I'll preface it by saying that I have no opinion on her ministry, I have never read/listened to any of it. But nevertheless, this is a true story.

When I was in high school, my dad was contracted out to work on her printing equipment at her HQ. He said the atmosphere was so oppressive that he could hardly stand it. The employees were not allowed to speak to each other, and NO ONE was allowed to speak to Joyce. He had an escort the entire time, someone standing right beside him while he was working and he wasn't allowed to speak with her or anyone around him. He kept asking his company not to send him back but they did anyway. So, one time, he saw Joyce in a breakroom. He said "Hello, how are you today." She looked at him in disbelief. They immediately contacted my dad's company and asked that he never come back. He was so relieved.

ETA: My dad is also a pastor. When he initially received the assignment, he thought "Oh, this might be pretty cool!" and he expected the place to be bustling with the joy of the Lord. He was quite shocked.

That's weird! I'm sad to hear that. I guess that's what happens if you go to work for a choleric personality, hehe. Knowing her ministry through books and online is fine for me then, LOL I just thought it'd be neat but forget it! I can’t throw out the fact that her ministry has helped me tremendously.

I have someone special in my life that ministers to me now. I'm amazed that she has time to e-mail me. It's embarrassing. I get embarrassed easy. Her husband is a 'big wig'. I appreciate his ministry but he scares the ? out of me. My family and I had lunch with him and my knees knocked the entire time. LOL It's because I'd like to impress him and I can't. It's impossible.

But his wife prays for me and she encourages me and I'd say is the most influential woman in my life right now. When I've sent out retarded e-mails asking for prayer(my mother was obviously embarrassed by one my prayer request), she's sometimes is the only one to respond and send an encouraging word. I respect her for that. During Easter she wrote that 11,500 passed through their ministry campus. That's pretty impressive. She's my step dad's first cousin and maybe that's why she cares about me. Uh, I'm getting teary eyed. Thank you Jesus for those who see the ‘nobody's’ as someone worthy of their time. The Bible says to not think more highly of yourself than you ought and many of our ‘super star’ ministers need to practice this. I understand that too much is draining and we aren’t Jesus but too many times we exalt ourselves and place ourselves in positions that Jesus never had intended for us and then we fall.

I saw a picture of one of the people who plays piano at our church on Friday mornings in a magazine over here. I freaked when the caption referred to him as the ambassador! (From the UK.) I forget that though because you'd never guess he wasn't just some expat working over here and giving of his time and talents in the church. Until I arrive the same time he does and see his car with flags followed by a big SUV with flashing lights on top and a couple of Kuwaitis in uniform. LOL

I met a couple of members of the Power Team a few years ago. The man I chatted with was a member of a SWAT team. I ended up thinking "They gave this man a gun?!" I was wearing my Planet Hollywood shirt from Beirut (with cedars of Lebanon on it). I asked him if he could tell what the trees were. He didn't know. I pointed out where it said Beirut, thinking he'd think Lebanon, oh, cedars of Lebanon. I asked him where Beirut is and he said, "Vietnam?" OK, he was very nice, very tough, I'm sure quite capable with a weapon, but thank heavens a knowledge of basic geography (and world events) aren't required to do his job.

I once got to figure skate with Kurt Browning, and Isabelle and Lloyd Eisler. I was very young though, and don't remember much.

I went to college with the guys from the band "downhere" they are such a great bunch of guys, and a excellent musicians and songwriters.

I once met some professional athletes at different youth events etc.

And I've sang on the same stage as the Gaither Vocal band!! Not at the same time of course, but it's kinda neat. And played the same piano as Anthony Burger!
