Jeremiah 29:10-12 (NIV) This is what the LORD says: "When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my gracious promise to bring you back to this place. For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

Good afternoon, friends. I had plans to get a bunch of work done today but I'm still sick so I guess I'm relaxing instead.

Hi Maggie! I hope you feel better soon. I've been doing laundry, I suppose I should get back to that. My daughter has prescription drug coverage at work if she works at least 20 hours. We just had some prescriptions filled for her. Wow, what a savings! Hopefully we'll have some refills; she won't be working enough for the benefits much longer. OK, got some laundry hung, might start another load later. Dee

Good morning afternoon everyone! Thanks for starting us off with such wonderful scripture, Dee . . . sorry it's taking me so long to get in here -- been to town already this morning, and didn't return until after 1:00. Garrett & I were both worn to a frazzle. So I fed him, changed him and laid down with him until he fell asleep. Well, he was asleep with 10 minutes, but I rested for another 20 or so. Maggie, I hope you all get that out of your system this week so you can all concentrate on being well again . . sheesh! Marsha, Wow! -- 100 degrees already! Makes me really thankful for our cool spring. Tho we had to kick the heat on this morning, and just ordered more propane this afternoon, to the tune of $2.39/gallon . . cost me nearly $400 to put 150 gallons in the tank. Where is this all going go end???? It's so frustrating Well, I bought 3 new plants this morning, and a small 6 pack of violas. Then I took a walk around my flower bed a minute ago. Everything looks great except it needs to be weeded badly. The Columbines are still blooming profusely. One of the new plants I bought is a pale pink, very large Columbine -- so pretty!! . . gotta get it in the garden right away. Then I got what looks like a type of angel-wing begonia, but it has no spots on the leaves, and all I've ever seen have spots, I thought. Anyway, it's very pretty and very healthy. The third plant is very narrow-leafed, dark purple plant -- kind of cascading. I've seen them, but can't remember their name. When I unearth my plant books, guess I'll look that up. Even tho that and the begonia were sold, assumingly, as bedding or potted outdoor plants, I think I'll be putting them in my new window. Ok, guess I need to get to work . . outside is where I'm headed, I think -- this is our last pretty day this week -- well, til Friday, anyway. That will give me plenty of time to do some more inside work.

Hi Dee! Laundry is on my list of items I planned to do but can't because I'm too sick. It seems like the slightest exertion exhausts me. It's great when you can get prescriptions covered. They can be so costly! Thanks, Marsha! Never heard of Dottie Rambo. That's really sad, though, about the bus accident. LOL about the "dry heat." We say that about our winters, "It's a dry cold." It does make a difference on both ends of the thermometer. I was glad that we had 60º yesterday. We ate outside for the first time this year. quote:
Maggie, I hope you all get that out of your system this week so you can all concentrate on being well again . . sheesh! Me too, Linda. Me too. But I never got a cold or the flu all winter so I guess this will make up for things. Your new plants sound pretty. I guess I need to go find some over the next couple of weeks. Our trees are still bare and the lilac is just starting to bud so we're way behind all you in the US. I think I'm going to do some writing and work on my manuscript today. I have no energy for anything else.

Hi all! I need to buy some plants, I can't believe I haven't done that yet. I think the lilacs were late blooming here. This morning I called and got the unauthorized charges on my phone bill removed, hopefully. I also called AT&T and they put a block on allowing third party billing on our account. The lady at the company that put the charges on our bill was very helpful and cooperative. I figure they've learned they have less legal problems that way.

Dee, I'm glad you were able to take care of the phone charges. And that you caught the mistake. Seems there are several here who are in the 'planting' phase. I've not begun to think of planting. My flower beds need weeding and the maple seeds are in abundance everywhere: the yard, the sidewalk, and the flower beds. Some have taken root and are growing among the perennials. From past experience I know they need to be weeded out quickly or they take root and are hard to pull out. Which reminds me, from past experience I've found if I let a resentful thought take root in my soul, my heart, and my mind, it takes a lot more effort to weed this resentment out of my life. I am doing my best to send these thoughts to Jesus as they come up so the garden within me is weeded and the fruit of the Spirit is what grows not the seeds of sin. Maggie, I hope you are feeling better. Didn't visit my neighbor last night. Instead I went to my daughter's house and did some work she asked me to do. Didn't get done until almost 10:00. Today I am going to be at work by 7:30 am. My youngest son is getting his Presidential Prestigious Award presented at school today and I am taking off from work to be there so some work time needed to be rearranged. It will be a long day. Open registration is from noon till 6:00pm but I left some time off from work to allow time I hope for me to go home for a lunch and some rest in between work this morning, the ceremony and the open registration. The birds are chirping. Anyone else think the sound of bird's chirping is a sweet sweet sound like I do? Ginny

Good morning, Dee and Ginny! I'm glad the phone people were cooperative, Dee. Ginny, I'm still sick. I spent most of my night coughing and blowing my nose. Very aggravating. But I'm going out for lunch with a friend. We've been trying to get together since January so I'm not cancelling out. I should be able to handle that. I like what you said about resentful thoughts. Very good illustration! And I hope you have a great day today. That's quite an honour for your son!

Maggie, how did your lunch date go? Sorry to hear you are still sick. Where is everyone? The award ceremony was great. I saw an old friend who's son is the same age and grade as mine. On the other side of hubby was his friend whose son is in baseball with my son. They played basketball together too last year. Believe his son received the Presidential Academic Award too. Several students receive the Academic Award. The ceremony opened up with clips from the video yearbook, then there was a solo which was very well sung and then the choir sang and performed. Hubby asked me if I was bored yet and I wasn't at all. The choir were hard to hear but I was enjoying watching the individuals in the choir and how they performed. Some were really getting into their dance moves. I like seeing these students and thinking about their personalities showing forth in how they were presenting themselves. There were many awards given out: Spanish, Math, English, Sports, etc. then finally at the end the big ones with cash awards and plagues instead of certificates. My son was chosen by his teachers for the Stan Darr Memorial Award for Outstanding Junior High School student. One male student and one female student were chosen from the whole class for their maturity, leadership, academic excellence, etc. There was more said but he went too fast and I didn't memorized it all. It is a high honor though so my son receive two awards. All the students who received plagues and cash awards for special awards like my son were asked to come to the front afterwards so their picture could be taken for the paper. I was so proud of my son. The guidance counselor talked to us after the ceremony to expound on the award my son received. Gee I am blessed that all four of my children have been high achievers. The counselor said the youngest is the best of them all. Won't tell that to the others because they are special too. It is good to hear when the school staff ask, "Are there any more of your children coming our way? We love them." Hubby said, "No, but our grandson is in middle school and will soon be in junior high." Their reply, "Oh, I've already heard great things about him." Just had to share. Ginny

That's awesome, Ginny! Wow! Congratulations! What an honour for both your son and you. I'm glad it went well and so glad you attended. That's the sort of thing you do NOT want to miss.

Congrats to you and your son Ginny! I hope you are feeling better soon Maggie. Had my daughter's final band concert tonight. It's good to have the year winding down quickly. The kids have worked hard. Monday my son had his field trip, hubby went with. He keeps talking about needing a snack for this or that, and a game for this day. The school year is definitely almost over. Dee

Dee, Band is very demanding from what I understand and takes discipline and commitment. Crudos to your daughter. Where is the field trip going? And of course snacks are important. What would we do without them? It's Wednesday already. The week sure does go by fast. Am I the only one that finds communication in emails sometimes frustrating because it is hard to express clearly what you are trying to say whereas with verbal communication at least you have an opportunity to receive input on how you are being understood or misunderstood and get things resolved easier? Ginny P.S. Have a good day!

Good Wednesday morning, everyone. Guess I missed getting in here yesterday, tho I was reading. It's a foggy, misty morning here in Missouri -- I stood out of the back porch for a bit and one could almost beleive it was fall if everything weren't so lush and green . . just has that fall feeling in the air or something. Ginny, you'd already got to share with me about your DS' achievements, but congratulations again -- that was really quite something. And I'm so glad you got to go to the ceremony. Sounds like an awfully busy day for you. Yes, you're right about the emails. As in here, ppl can't see your expression or hear the inflections in your voice, so subtle meanings can easily get lost, and humor can be rather hard to achieve. I hope things are working out for you on that end, and that you're not stressing too much over it. Dee, while mowing a bit of grass yesterday morning, I discovered I do indeed have clotheslines up . . who woulda thunk it? . . . . it doesn't matter at this point, cuz if I ever get to the bed to get the sheets off to wash, I will likely not have time to hang them out anyway. Yep, summer is nearly here and soon school will be finishing their session. When I read the posts in here it reminds me of my kids' school days . . . seems they went on forever, but now it seems like they were over all too fast. Now I am waiting for my granddaughters' school to be out so they can come & spent some time with us . . . supposed to be here the last week of the month. Our daughter was in band -- played the trombone. What instrument does your daugher play? Good that your hubby could go on the field trip with your son. Bill would have never dreamed of doing something like that. Owell. I've been up since 4:00 and trying to talk myself into going to the gym in a while. I am dressed in my gym clothes -- and already worked up a sweat, even! But that was in cleaning, not working out . . . . the thing it, I'm feeling really sleepy now and could go back to bed for a bit. Garrett doesn't come until 9:00 this morning, and I planned to pick him up then go get my hair cut -- this was all after I went to the gym for my workout. Maybe if I lie down for a few minutes I'll feel like going. We'll see. I'm slowly getting the house back in order. But I'm so tired. Just can't see to find the energy to keep going. Wonder where Barb's been this week . . hope nothing is wrong up her way -- Barb, we miss you . . sending a prayer up for you!

Good morning, Dee, Linda and Ginny. I'm still sick. Maybe sicker. I feel very icky and am wondering if I should cancel my doctor's appointment. I missed last week too but just sitting here seems to be more than I can take. And yesterday I thought I was doing better. I was able to spend the whole afternoon out. Oh well. All four of my boys played in the school band. Two of them played in two bands: concert band and jazz band. We had drums, clarinet, oboe and sax. I loved listening to them play.

I'm sorry you're not feeling better Maggie. I think the dad's going on field trips is becoming more done; my dad would have never done anything like that. They went to a camp in the area where they went horseback riding and canoing. K plays the clarinet. I hope she sticks with it into high school, partly I suppose because I did and it was a good experience for me. We also have a saxophone and last year she tried out for jazz band with it, but didn't make it. I wish she would have tried out again this year, but she didn't. She was hoping to play the bass clarinet, but they don't have enough clarinets (there's only 3) to let her switch. Maybe in HS if she continues. Leah, I love my clothesline. I guess now you know you have one if you ever decide you could use it! That reminds me, I need to go check the grass seed I planted last week under the clothesline. I'm trying to keep it wet. Hubby's brother is going to visit us tomorrow night. He's in the state for business. That brother has never visited us since we've been married, so that'll be nice. And maybe now I have some motivation to clean. We'll have to see about that. I agree Ginny, email communication can be frustrating. Dee
