Being that the pastor was relatively unharmed, this is almost a funny story...please pray for his recovery and that he will NEVER try this agian.

Two things:

1.) What's with all the middle-aged pastors getting motorcycles?

2.) We have another valid reason to keep that first row vacant.

Yep...would have never happened in a Baptist church!

there seems to be a "who has the best analogy" race among pastors these days....

Instead of trying to impress people, how 'bout just preaching Scripture?

I fully expect someone to preach about Adam & Eve, and have a nekid couple and a snake at church.

There are an awful lot of everyone getting motorcycles in my area this year and many middle aged. It has alot to do with gas prices and people who have always considered it are now doing it. It's been tricky at times navigating the roads from all the bike noobies to. : /

There are many churches with "motorcycle ministries", we have several here that are pretty popular.

I'm thankful for the nearby Cowboy church.

Horses are safer.

You just stepped on the toes of every Emerging Church out there! But that's another thread!

Seriously, it appears the "Church" has decided that the Holy Spirit has become incapable of drawing the world to Christ. We (the Church) have decided that the God cannot even begin to compete with all the "fun stuff" the world has to offer, so we do a little tap dance and offer a stand-up routine. We must step in and save God's kingdom, all by ourselves. Well, us and our motorcycles and horses!

It is recycled into sermons.

We don't have one of those here but our local Sav-A-Life ministry cancelled it's long-time "Walk for Life" fund raiser and replaced it with a bunch of area ministers - at their request - on Harleys riding a few miles. All ages and all sorts of peole used to come out on a Saturday morning to walk 2 miles in the annual fund raiser. There was exercise and fellowship. Now it's a hanful of wide-bottomed, mostly 45-60 year-old ministers sitting on their hogs looking tough and in need of a walk...

I miss the "Walk for Life."

Actually the cowboys drive their gas guzzling pickups to service, just like the rest of us here.

But the road apples make great fertilizer!

I hope this is the smiley that is laughing.
I would never say this out loud for fear some poor soul would try it.
No motorcycles, especially right now with Sylvia all painted with benadryl and calamine lotion..

So right Peter_Gunn, poor ol' God just cant get His message out unless we jazz the show up, sad.

I'm glad you didn't put gas and horses in the same sentence.

Amen! Let's see... how can I visibly explain unity to those in attendance Sunday. Hmm... what about the man and machine motorcycle example? Perfect! I can't really use words... statistics say only 57.452% pay full attention through the whole sermon anyway. But everyone LOVES motorcycles- how they weave through strings of traffic back and forth like they own the road. You do have to give him credit for riding out of church twice successfully- and that made a total of three abbreviated services.

Hey EStan- I'll chip in on some marshmallows if you are still making those Rice Krispy treats for folks. That preacher had surgery on his wrist, not just setting things back in place and a cast. OUCH!

ROFL, that was a good one!
