For several months now I have been talking to members of the Jehovahs Witness Faith. They make a lot of sense and I am thinking of joining. But I don't know. It is such a big step. I have so many voids in my life that I can not fill. They understand and seem to want to help. Has anyone else gone through this?

Hi Sarahsmiles,
My Sister got involved with the JW's for many years.
She became very involved in striving to prepare for the
"New World" (eternal life on Earth as JW's believe)
that she never found "New Life in Christ."
One day she told me she felt like she was always trying to be good enough for Jehovah, and always missing the mark. And in all her studying and Bible reading with the JW's, she still felt like she didn't know God or how to reach Him. I gave her a book which explained the book of Romans in the Bible, and she came to realize why Jesus died on the Cross! She said "I always thought that I would stand before Jehovah after I died, and be judged for my sins. I didn't realize Jesus died on the Cross and shed His blood for me and for my sins!
Jesus said, It is finished! We can't save ourselves.Only Jesus saves!"
She left the JW"s, and came to put her faith in Christ alone!
(You may want to check out a Non-denomination Church in your area!)
God bless you Sarahsmiles!

(Jesus said;)
"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
John 10:10
(Jesus said;)
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
John 14:6

Sarahsmiles222,
I grew up going to a Baptist church, then after I became an adult my aunt & uncle became JW's.
I was torn for a long time between 2 different religions but then realized just how important Jesus dying on the cross for me was and still is!
I also go to a Non-Denominational church and have been for many years.
My aunt & I had many ongoing talks about our "faiths". When she was dying she knew finally that Jesus died on the cross for her and she asked for forgiveness & accepted Jesus as her Saviour.

I agree with Ignited Faith's post above, find a non-denominational church in your area, they'll be happy to see you.
May God Bless You Sarahsmiles22,
Connie Lou

Unfortunately much of what you are going through is all too common to all men. However, while there are those who say if you had just believed as they do, you would not be where you are today. There are also those who find themselves in the same predicament and are only too happy to have others join them. There are also others who sit on the side lines and know nothing of you situation, but are only too happy to tell you what they think you should do. Then again there is Christ who takes you by the hand and draws you near where all else fades away.

Cults by nature have to be friendly, welcoming and understanding but they all have something in common and that is the lack of Chirst for if they had Christ they wouldn't need their fearful, soul destroying teachings that leave you worse off than when you were. I guess it is very hard to determine the truth of matters but I am convinced He who says He is the truth will and can convince you of this if you but ask Him.

Nevertheless, rejoice for He is the answer as He has been for countless billions. Choose the freedom and life in Christ rather than the bondage of the cults.

They understand and seem to want to help.

There is a good video called "The Witness of Jehovah" that is sensitive yet truthful about JW. The JW people are often hardworking and often will bend over backwards (especially if you seem interested). They are quite like the Pharisees in this regard;

Romans 10:2
For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

Matthew 23:15
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

The key difference between true Christianity and every other religion and cult is the means of salvation. Jesus offers us entrance to heaven as a gift. We have to trust in Him to receive the gift. Every other religion is based on works. The JW work very hard and never seem quite sure they have worked hard enough to gain what they are seeking.

We have the promise of God that we do not needs works;

John 5:24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Hello rahsmiles222

I would urge you to do this. Study the scriptures Matthew through John. Get to know the real Jesus Christ. Then observe critically the memgers of JW and see if you see the same Jesus you found in scripture. Do not listen to what others say, especially those that really don't know Jesus Christ that well.

If you know Jesus Christ well, the Holy Spirit will give you discernment on this matter.

Hi Sarah,
Ask Jesus to help you. Ask Him to give you understanding and to show you who He really is. He'll answer you in some way or another because He loves it when we call on His name.

JW's are very works orientated - you've got to work hard and perform right enough or you won't get to heaven.

God gives you salvation for free through faith in Jesus.

Years ago, long before I became a Christian, I went through a year long study with Jehovah's Witnesses. I, like you, heard some things that made sense to me and they seemed genuinely interested in me. I was a new mother, at home with my son, and lonely. My husband, not a Christian either, did not discourage me from talking to the JW's, but he wouldn't talk to them either. I was not yet a believer, I was still a seeker, but God was impressing on me that whatever choice I made, He wanted my husband to support my choice and my husband's reaction (not wishing to talk to them) resonated in my heart. I told them at the end of a year that I could not do something (join their group) if my husband didn't want to join, too.

I remember praying in those days that God show me what He wanted me to do because I really wanted to do the right thing. I never got any confirmation that He wanted me to pursue being a Jehovah's Witness. It was 17 years later that I became a Christian.

What I recommend you do is come to an understanding of Who Jesus is and Why He came to live and die. I later, as a Christian, came to realize that what I was looking for back in the days when I was doing my Bible study with the Jehovah's Witnesses was right there before me as a Christian. I had a lot of misinformation about God and Jesus floating around in my brain. God set to removing the misinformation and teaching me His truth once I became a Christian. Some of what I learned in those days with the JW's still makes sense in some ways, but I've been able to filter out the teachings that don't mesh with what I now believe.
