Is it *just* hot and cold sensitive, or more than that? You could just phone him, reminding him that you had discomfort last year after it was done, and say that it's still happening, and see what he says. Could be that he might offer to see you for free. Though I am in the UK, where we have socialised medicine, we see our dentist privately - and I know he'd do a consultation for free if it related to past treatment.

I would be seeking out a second opinion. Good/friendly dentist or not... a second opinion hurts nothing.

It could be the way that it is fitted but things could have changed since you last saw him. I'd agree that it's worth a call to see what he says. When I paid privately, my dentist would give a free consult if it was from a previous problem.
