On a lot of campuses in America, today was the day of silence. If you have'nt heard of it, it is a tradition started in the University of Virginia, some time in the 1990's, I'm not sure of the exact date. In honor of all the Homosexuals, Bisexuals and Transexuals that are "silenced" from the community, or even killed or beaten, if you are participating in the day of silence you don't speak all day. This years day of silence was in honor of a fifteen year old boy who died. He was shot by another classmate, who was also in the 8th grade. Can you imagine that? 8th grade! He was shot just because of his oppinions about homosexuality. It almost makes me cry, how much someone can hate someone else enough to end their life. What are your feelings on this? Have you ever heard of it? Would you have participated, if you were a kid and knew about it? Would you let your kids participate? I could just type in questions all night, there is so much I want to ask. I just hope all this discrimination stops and people will learn to love each other, not matter what their neighbors are.
