This is a follow-up to a previous post I made. I think, that perhaps, I am becoming more aware of just how wide-spread that sin is. I know that you know about Romans 3:23, but, somehow, I think a part of me has been holding onto "save havens." These havens somehow being immune from sin. I was wrong of course. Then: Politicians were noble highly intelligent persons, dedicated to America first. Now: People consumed with money and prestige caring more about partisanship than our country. Then: Journalists committed to integrity, honor, truth, and (as much as possible) being non-biased. Now: Bias is rampant, honor and truth have been comprised. And so on.... Also, think about your favorite sports figure, movie star, author, singer, etc. What do you do when you learn that that person is flawed as well? Everything has been tainted. For example, let us say you like a Christian singing recording star, only to the learn he/she has actually been living an ungodly life. Do you stop liking their music? What about art? You love to go to museums and look at beautiful works of art. You decide to research the artists..and then, you find, drug addicts, law breakers, etc. It would appear that everything must be seen through a lens of sin. Could it even be that the beautiful classical music I enjoy, has been diminished? In other words, might not the brilliance of Mozart that I listen to, be somehow diminished because of sin? Remove the sin factor and would not the music of Mozart be brilliant beyond belief? I guess what I am saying is, how can anything be enjoyed: watching professional sports, listening to music, looking at art, reading books, etc., when you learn that it all has been infected by sin? Even "Christian" music performers are tainted (so am I by the way)..... I mean, is it not legitimate to look around, survey the planet and declare: so this is what a world infected by sin looks like? Just wondering...I mean, what is hopeful is seeing remarkable rays of God throughout all this. I believe that because of God, beauty (although diminished), can still be seen, whether in art, or in Mozart's music. Just catching glimpses of God's fingerprints, so to speak, is breathtaking! C

You're quite right, Concerto; the whole world is contaminated. But God can't be kept away. The sun rises every morning, the stars and earth are still in their orbits, the birds still migrate. Gravity still works and the area of a circle is still pi-r squared. The things we can see are temporary; the things we can't see are eternal. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. Rom. 8:22 God is coming back. Nothing can stop Him. He'll end history, judge the wicked, and eternity with Him where we can see it will begin. The earth will be rolled up like a worn-out jacket and thrown away, and there will be a new heavens and new earth (dibs on Yosemite!) that won't be infected with sin. It'll be great! And we'll be face to face with Jesus (forget Yosemite) and that will be best of all.

The deeper we see sin in ourselves the more clearly we see the height, breadth, and depth of the love of Christ.

The only person we should be comparing each other by is Jesus Himself. We all fall short so stop looking to the sin found in other people. I don't think God wants us to dwell on the sinfulness of other people. We have enough of our own sin to dwell on. I think God would rather we look for the beauty in our world. It's there. Look for the ugliness of our world and that's what we will find. It all depends on what a person is looking for. Though this world is far from perfect it is our world. I think God wants us to find Him in the world we are dwelling. Change your focus and find Him rather than the ugliness. I bet you'll find lots to praise Him for. It all comes down to where a person focusses his attention. Before I was saved I was a naturally negative person. When I was saved I started noticing that my negativity was decreasing. I'm much happier with the new me, that's for sure!
