This was a few years ago but I was praying one morning and I asked God to show he was real to me one day. I said " if you have someone give me a compliment today, I'll really know your there". It was like a test. I had faith but I thought It would be fun. I dont think God likes us to test him but but sure enough, at 3:00 picking up my kids from school, someone walked up to me and said "you look pretty today"!!!!! I almost started sceaming in the hallls of the school!!!!!!I can tell you, It had been forever since someone complemented me at the time. He has answered so many prayers too! I love him and wish the whole world could feel the way I do and know with there whole heart that he's real and love us more than we could know. I never ask him a question like that again. Don't need too!

What about thou shouldn't put thy Lord God to the test? Also, what if it was a coincidence? I dunno. That's strong faith to believe after something so small though -- which is a good thing! At least you don't keep on testing Him. Also, I think the true indication of His love is Jesus -- not things that he does that impact our worldy lives (contrasted with eternal life). If I said, Lord, let me have a good day today, I don't think that day would affect my eternal fate, and I don't think I could rely on that as proof of God. However, I am definitely saying that if one like you needs such little proof, then one hardly needs proof at all! -- So you have strong faith. Therefore, when you ask for such small things, your faith itself impacts your eternal faith, going against what I was saying about the day-to-day being neither here-nor-there when it comes to eternity. But, still, what does it mean to not put God to the test? I think expressions of faith are NOT putting him to the test, because if we have faith, we believe, and if we believe, there is no doubt in our mind that we will ask AND receive. A test only happens when there is some doubt about the result, you see. You don't do a pregnancy test when your stomach starts bulging, eh! So, maybe that's an explanation of why some tests don't work -- because no test of God works, only faith.

You want God to show Himself to you? Read the Bible, God's Word. Emotions are fickle and experiences can be deceptive.

I have never asked God to show Himself to me because I doubted or lacked faith. There have been times, however, when in my morning devotions I simply prayed "Abba Father, I need a hug today".

I think for new believers God will often reveal Himself in this manner. When I was a new believer He did some wild and crazy things. I don't see God doing those things in my life much now. I don't expect Him to or ask Him to. Not that I asked Him to when I was a new believer. It just happened and I was amazed. One time my husband, son and I were speaking about the sermon earlier that morning. We were all sitting at the kitchen table discussing our pastor's sermon. Our son was in the conversation, too. Later in the week my husband and I went to church for a program we were facilitating. We walked into the room and there were three people sitting at a table. They were having the very same conversation my husband, son and I had earlier in the week--verbatum. Coincidence? I don't think so. It left me in awe, I can tell you. I have never encountered anything like that since, but I figured God was at work for whatever reason. We so often think we are in control of what we say, think and do--but after that experience. Well, God is more involved than I had realized!

I've hardly ever doubted he existed or was in my life. I've only ever fully doubted the things he's done or the things I think he's trying to get across to me in my life. I've seen his light first hand so to speak. To be honest I don't think there's something someone could ever tell or say to me that would make me not believe he's around. I suppose 10 years ago, yes. 5 years ago, maybe. 1 year ago, not likely. Now, not a chance. I guess I've just been lucky and experienced a lot of things that could only be explained through direct intervention of the Lord. I could see how someone could doubt though as I did when you haven't experienced his hand at work.

God doesn't want us to test him as a way to avoid faith, or to avoid action. But if we're really in need of encouragement, or have genuine doubt, he's always willing to give us proof. My favorite story in the bible is that of doubting Thomas. When Thomas asked for evidence that Jesus really did raise from the dead, God gave it to him. After Thomas touches Jesus' wounds there isn't a line that says, "and then Jesus smote him for his unbelief." God showed Thomas exactly what he needed to see in order to grow his faith. And he does exactly the same for us.

you prayed a prayer that God will always answer. John 17:3 eternal life is to know the one and only true God and Jesus Christ whom he sent. He went to the Cross so that we may know our creator and walk in intimate fellowship with him. And that is impossible If God does not show himself to us in some manner. Simon Peter made a bold confession telling the Lord that he is the Christ the Son of the living God. Jesus's reply to Peter was this " Blessed are you Simon bar Jona for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you but ny Father in heaven, and on this rock I will build my Church. " The rock that the Church is built on is God revealing himself to through Jesus Christ by his Holy Spirit. The scriptures themselves testify of Jesus Christ, This is according to the Lord's own assesment of the scriptures as recorded in the Gospel of John chapter 7. So any foundation based on the truth of the scripture is founded on the rock of the revelation of God in Jesus Christ. In the new testament we are encouraged to take hold of the ingrafted Word, which is able to save our souls. This in grafted Word is Christ revealed to our hearts for Christ is the Word that sets us free from sin. The Bible also states that if we seek him with all our hearts that we will find him, and that he is a rewarder of those that diligently seek him. The Pharisees were diligent in there seeking the scripture for eternal life, but wereblind to the fact that scriptures pointed to a person in whom eternal was to be found, that person being the Messiah Jesus Christ. quote:
