This site was recommended by a loved one.

We began discussing faith one day and I remarked about a book I had read that had lowered my blood pressure and calmed my mind.
"The Bible?" she asked, knowing that I'm an avid reader.
"The Tao of Pooh", I answered (hence the name).

Upon hearing some of the quotes from the book, she remarked that they sounded biblical, and suggested I would be wise to find that same calm in Christ.
I admitted to her that I thought the Christian Church had gone astray with it's adventures into the Conservative political arena these last 30 years and was wary of some people's motives ( having seen these things first hand in Southern California ). She assured me that I was being overly broad in my concern.
I've been interested, and occasionally involved, in politics since '76 (when I turned 18); So, I have been mostly posting on the Current Events threads. It is a comfortable place for me to start.
Call it vanity, but I've waited until I had 50 posts to introduce myself so that I could put up my avatar; Better to explain my name with a picture than with words.

I spent the first half of my life in Orange County, CA. Served 4 years in the Army (in my mid-20's), and was Honorably Discharged. I left the craziness of my hometown behind and moved to rural Nebraska, where I met & married my wife 20 years ago. We have two boys, 17 & 15, along with the prerequisite cat & dog.
I currently work 10-12 hours nights in a factory, so you may find that I post at odd hours.
