WASHINGTON - Hillary Rodham Clinton now leads John McCain by 9 points in a head-to-head presidential matchup, according to an Associated Press-Ipsos poll that bolsters her argument that she is more electable than Democratic rival Barack Obama. Obama and Republican McCain are running about even.

story here

While November is still a long way off, do you believe that if Hillary is the democratic nominee, she will beat John McCain? Why or why not?

Mccain will win, her laugh, and voice, will annoy to many people by that time. Unless McCain suddenly is in a morgue with a toe tag. The Clintons win at all cost.

Democrats always count on the minority vote but if Hillary is given the nomination even though Barack leads in the delegate count his supporters will feel that the election was stolen from them.

Among other things, this will more than likely cause them to either a)not vote at all in the general election, or b)vote for McCain to get their revenge on Hillary. Either way, Hillary will not have enough support in the general election. I'm not sure if the polls have taken this into account or not.

If she were to win the nomination fair and square, then yes, she would probably beat McCain, particularly if the economy continues to tank.

But if she gets the nomination through a superdelegate coup (yes, that's how it will be perceived), she won't win because too many Obama supporters will bail and all the current enthusiasm on the left will be replaced by disenfranchisement.

It ain't gonna happen. Clinton can't win the pledged delegate count or the popular vote total at this stage of the game. And while some superdelegates may be getting nervous about the whole Wright thing and how it will impact Obama's ability to reach black coffee Democrats, they are much more fearful of usurping the will of the people and turning a fire hose onto all that Obamamania. In the end, they're simply not gonna unilaterally override the Obama movement. It's an inside-the-beltway story that has no legs. Obama's gonna be the guy.

This may be so, but I am still rooting for my girl Hil to bite, scratch, kick, yell, and crawl every inch of the way to the convention.

Few Dems will vote based on that factor since polls at this point are not indicative of final outcome. The statistical differences are not all that far apart for it to be a deciding factor.
