Obama's current lead over Hillary Clinton is not as dramatic as the media would have you believe, with only 123 more "pledged" delegates. Of the 796 superdelegates, 438 have expressed support for Senator Obama, while 256 have backed Senator Clinton. In order for Hillary win the Democratic nomination she would only need to win an additional 222 superdelegates between now and August.

Did people actually believe that Hillary was going to go away that easily?

Hillary will deliver a key address at the DNC, to be sure, but after that I doubt we'll see or hear much of her.

I dunno. If the Dems are still in control of Congress after November, I can see Hillary making a run for Senate Majority Leader.

I think it's long since time that Harry Reid step down.

I wouldn't be suprised at all if Hillary becomes the next Senate Majority Leader. I kept expecting the Dem's to offer her that position to get her to stop her campaign.

I'm still holding out hope that Hillary will make one last power grab for the Democratic nomination.

After all, this was supposed to be her coronation......

Senate Majority leader is based on seniority. As a junior senator, isn't Hillary something like 67th in line for that job? Harry Reed has nothing to worry about.

Hillary's time has come and gone. If you want another Clinton candidate, you're going to have to wait for Chelsea to meet the age requirement.

Yeah, I agree.

Plus, the notion of there being a floor fight between Obama and Hillary at the Dem Convention is just wishful thinking (in the extreme) on the part of the latter's few remaining (presidential) supporters.

Yea, I think a floor fight in Denver would be a wonderful thing.

And the Obama worshippers should not count the "Madam of Arkansas" out as long as she is still breathing.

Thanks

Actually seniority has little to do with that position. It is decided by vote of the Dems in the Senate.

It seniority were the sole requirement Robert Byrd would be the majority leader with Ted Kennedy close behind. There are 13 democrats in the Senate with more seniority than Harry Reid.
