I'm a deacon and AWANA commander for my church. And I wanted an opinion outside of the AWANA mb's on this. Has anyone tried the HomeBase family ministry, and what did you think?

I'm a leader in Awana also, and I'm not familiar with the HomeBase ministry. I believe this is brand new to Awana. I too, would be interested in what others have to say on this. And are parents interested in coming to a family night and listening to a presentation. Or do we reach each family individually and present this material? Or do we send home the material with the clubbers?

So what ia a HOMEBased Ministry. I was in a church in MO last few years and the night they had AWANA We had a program created for the parents as in parenting with Christian love , money in the home etc all thur the year .We did it as a outreach to the local community almost all of out kids were from non church home ( 150) we had a few parents( 20-30) from them and several from are own church. Once a month we would have dinner as a out treach and had great attendnes. SO is what yoour thinking od a parent type classes with the Bible to go along with the Awand or just the same time . Some church us AWANA as the children church time here were we live now!

I'm wondering if it really delivers all they say about getting parents involved in discipleship.

I know nothing of AWANA materials, but all Christian families should be having a devotion time (Prayer, Bible reading, discussion) at home as a family. Thanks RC

awana.org should help answer your questions. BTW, I'm not affiliated with AWANA outside of being a local leader in my church.

I was impressed with the way the AWANA program is set up for the children and the leaders one of the best I have seen and be in over 25 yr now If they have put together something for parents I have not seen it I out of AWANA for two yrs now but I bet it is a good program to help get family started on that road of worship> As JC stated all Chrisian parents should have somthing like this in the Home BUT SO many do not Some just get so busy with life and family etc they just over look studying with the children the Bible etc, May be a great thing to get started I like to hear how it goes!
