Guys, I'm a frugal one. I'm not going to spend $100 per night to stay at the Executive West or Executive Inn all week. So, for some of you more frugal NQC goers, how do you all find cheap hotel rates that isn't too far from the Fair and Expo Center? I'm willing to drive 10-15 minutes. If it's within 10 miles, I'll take a look. I've had extremely good luck finding hotels for $65 and less in the past. I'm hoping to do the same this year, but it seems like I'm having a more and more difficult time doing so with each passing year. I hope to see everyone there in Louisville. It's a blast. Blessings to all.

Baymont Inn (Formerly Comfort Inn) and Quality Suites in Brooks, KY usually run $65-85 per night, it's about 15 minutes (12 miles) out.

There is a Red Roof Inn on Preston Highway, 2-3 miles from NQC. There rates as of today was $70/night. I have stayed there before. Nothing fancy.

One good thing about staying at Executive West is the constant shuttle bus that runs over to Freedom Hall--you dont have to fight traffic, pay for parking and sometimes if we went early to visit with friends wife would even take the shuttle back and rest awhile and then come back, plus most of the groups stay there and you can visit with others groups etc. Drip www.calvarysway.com

I know several people that go across the river to Corydon Indiana and get hotels at regular prices. It's about 30 min from L'vill... so thats not to bad of a drive. You might also want to try a hotel in Shelbyville, Ky

We are at Sleep Inn right near the back gate of Freedom Hall. It's $107 per night but with my Choice rewards I'm only having to pay for 2 nights so that equals $53.50 per night out of pocket.

I am only going to the NQC on Sat., and I just booked a room a few days ago. Of course, a lot of hotels in Louisville are already booked up, but I found a room at a Holiday Inn Express in Elizabethtown, KY (40 miles south of Louisville) for $88. I know this would be an inconvenient location if you were going every night, but I am coming from my grandparent's house in Alabama, then I will be driving home to Indiana, so the location of the hotel worked out fine for me.

I would like to add that just north of Louisville in Indiana there are quite a few modestly-priced hotels. People that don't know the area might not think to try Indiana.

HeyChad, that should be just fine! That sounds good. I hope you have a wonderful time there on Saturday night. Last year , i just went for one day also, but i went on a Monday, i think.

D., do you walk over to NQC from that hotel? Or do you still need to drive?

I haven't stayed there before so I'm not sure, I think at least at night we will drive but during the day we may walk. It's further than the Executive but I believe in walking distance on a pretty day (as long as we have the stroller for Erin).

Thanks D. We may try that if we can go next year. Have stayed at the galt House before but we were with a group. Liked the idea of the shuttle bus from there each day.

I've found that Choice builds faster because almost always there is a hotel from that chain wherever I'm going. Some of the other chains that isn't true. I have 2 nights at NQC free and I've used 2 or 3 nights already this year because they often run the 2 stays - 1 night free special. When they have that every 3rd stay is free.
