I have not seen it in a while. I love KIm and Aggie. How do people get into that shape or That way of living? I think it is deeper than laziness in some cases. What station is on know in the states?

I think that is presumptuous to say that...some people get into situations like that as a coping mechanism for some kind of grief, and they don't know how to change or help themselves...so it is far from laziness. I haven't seen this show on in years...but I have watched it a few times years ago.

Sometimes the people are grieving or facing some sort of trauma. Sometimes they just let it get out of control and got overwhelmed. There are all kinds of reasons this happens. I watch it on BBC America. I don't know if it comes on another network.

I've not seen the American version but I do watch the British version. They have a lot of useful tips in the programmes. Last time I watched, the guy cried because there was such a difference in his home. It's kinda easy to get into a mess with your home and it can be a nightmare to know where to start on cleaning up. My house isn't good, but compared with some, it's not bad either! My excuse? I've been ill and just didn't care. I am starting to care now, but it's hard to get on top. I'm doing it ~ slowly. It's hard to get on top of everything all at once though (for me anyhow, because I still have to deal with some health problems) when you're on your own.

I love that show! As to why and how some people get to that point for some it's their OCD/depression that is the issue. I had a client who was a major hoarder and it was unbelievable how much stuff she could cram in her little house. I had to schedule her last so I could go home and bathe and change clothes because of sinuses. My grandmother was a hoarder in the last few years of her life and it was a battle keeping her house habitable. She always saved things but kept a clean house but as she got older her ability to let go diminished.

They also have very good ideas for cleaning without chemicals. I think the only one that has really made me angry was the woman who lived with her blind son. The poor guy couldn't find his way around the house. That alone would have made me keep the house clean.

I've also noticed with many of the home shows on BBCA like wasted (the recycling one), how clean is your house and you are what you eat (or something like that) - they are a lot more "in your face" than similar programs here in the US. I kinda like that...no apologies - just do it! What's interesting is that much of that is for the camera ~ behind the scenes they are much more compassionate (if that's the right word) ~ not so in your face!

I suppose if they were more compassionate in front of the camera, the message would be diluted...so I get that for sure.

My house is pretty clean, but, I wonder what they would find in mine though, they would diapprove of it. I do not like natural Chemicals, sorry, I like bleach and pinesol, ammonia, other stuff. I do recycle though. You have pink gloves cool, I want some. I believe most people get overwhelmed for various reasons. They do a great thing. They are tart, little old ladies though (LOL)

A person does not need OCD/Depression to get into a mess. It can be a health problem, that the person cannot clean! And if you add to that, family members who'd rather put up with a mess than help... then it gets worse. I love to organize and clean, but, I have been asthmatic, had 3 pneumonias, a hernia....shall I go on? I'm mostly dependent on others to clean. I can see where a house could get piled up quickly and without an ounce of mental illness! Especially a house full of kids. It is my policy not to judge a person by how messy their house is, but by how they treat others and their relationship with Christ....anything else is frivolous. I love watching the cleaning programs! The people who do the cleaning are usually characters and fun to watch! Oh, and on the show "Clean House" the host , Neesey Nash, ended up with her mom calling the show and having them go to HER house! Turned out the host had just as big a mess as the folks she was doing intervention with! Funny!!!!

They need to air THAT episode. The gal who organizes (can't remember her name)...well, she had a friend who owned a restaurant and they went to her house, too. That was a funny episode.
