Lately, I have come across a Wicca young girl. I invited her to a BBQ in my church. When I mentioned to some female leaders in my church that she was wicca, I felt warning signs in their eyes. Some of them told me that these folks could or would not attend church services. Others recommended me not to be with her alone. Others recommended that these folks had such a stronghold that it needed to be broken. I had to tell those folks that Jesus ministered to many sinners (prostitutes, adulterous, dishonest tax-collector) and they were changed by His kindness and their strongholds were broken, which is exactly what I am doing with this girl. I am simply showing her God's unconditional love since she told me that she had always been abused. I gave her some food and offered her some other services. Any thoughts, tips about ministering to a Wicca girl? Should I listen to those folks in my church who are implying to me that it would be difficult to minister to her and make her Christian - hence implicitly - to keep your distance from her? OR should I continue ministering to her regardless to what they say? Wicca: religious practice involving nature-worship and witchcraft.

I suggest you really pray about how to witness to this young girl. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you as you show her the truth.

The thing about wicca is that the actual set of practices is rather... diverse. So it's hard to say what a wiccan believes/practices by just knowing they're wiccan, really. I've witnessed to wiccans as well. They're just people like any other lost person. I would say from my personal experience that I've found it easier to witness to a wiccan than to an agnostic/atheist... at least wiccans are open to the idea of spirituality and usually they're searching. Otherwise, I would agree with what's been said... pray that God would lead you in how to minister to and witness to her. I think it's terrific that you're reaching out to this obviously hurting girl. I would agree to some extent that you should be careful when doing so, because it's a sad commentary on today's society that you have to be sure that even actions done with pure motivations must be beyond reproach, but that definitely doesn't mean that you shouldn't continue reaching out to her, witnessing to her, and showing her the love of Christ.

I think its great that you're trying to witness to her and bring her back to Jesus, but go about it carefully and diligently. Definitely seek help from the Holy Spirit through prayer, and it wouldn't hurt if you could get her around some friends of your's who are of the same mind and faith as yourself.

Obviously God has given you a heart to love and help her which hopefully your church friends will likewise do. It does sound like she needs to experience unconditional love and to be able to trust people (which may be something she needs to learn going by what you said) and therefore she does not need to be put off by others distrusting her! Please explain this gently to your Christian friends. Pray for the Holy Spirit to help you to say what will draw her heart towards Jesus. God promises His Word will not return to Him void but it will accomplish that to which He sends it. God bless you as you reach out in Jesus Name to bring this lost soul to His Truth. Keep us posted and perhaps we can help you pray for her. Little_1

Thanks folks for your insight and encouragement. I tend to rally toward those who supported me to keep praying and ministering to her which is what I'm doing right now. Just to love her just the way she is without passing any judgement. Given the fact that she has always been abused mistreated by her 2 moms (biological and adoptive) plus an ex boyfriend who mistreated her and then committed suicide, I figure she became confused and perplexed and adopted this Wicca stuff. I will keep those folks in my church in my prayers. Jesus did NOT exclude anyone from His Ministry and thus should we!

Thank you hjemerson for your testimony. I am glad you've had a Wiccan friend who changed when you showed her God's love. I strongly believe these folks are starving for Jesus and trying to fill that starvation with all sorts of addictions be it tobacco, Wicca, sex, food and all sorts of addictions. Who knows I might be the only person she had had met in her life who would tell her about Jesus. Isn't it time we stopped judging people harshly and severely???

Thank you UnknownPreacher for the those resources although I could not have an access to Annie's interview. But this is living proof that "With God all things are possible". I wish the ladies in my church who objected or rolled their eyes would have the same mindset as you.

That is a very inspiring and hopeful story, thanks UP! I believe we should all be like that to the folks around us esp when they are sinners. This girl is planning to go back to school to study social studies and become a social worker. I am so proud of her and will certainly keep her in my prayers!

Wicca is a modern rehash (about 20 years old) of the ancient Diana/mother Goddess/Nature worship of bygone eras. It is attractive to young girls (especially those from abusive patriarchial homes) because it is all about peace, love, and the femanine tendancies that reside in these girls) Make no mistake; Wicca is witchcraft in the most blatant form and an abomination to our God. It may all be wrapped up in the Kum-ba-ya of sisterly love and worship of nature; but it is a direct road to hell for the adherents. Satan is crafty, I will give him this much. Thanks RC

Thanks rcjames for the clarification. Now I understand why this young lady attracted to this kind of witch. Nevertheless, I will still show her God's unconditional love and kindness. They people are starving for love given her abusive past and life. I pray we will all be able to be light that shines in the darkness in the life of those misled and misguided folks.

Good way to go, Cloak. RC is correct in the fact that teens do tend to approach the tree hugger mentality to escape abusive homes, and a lot of them may have been abused by a male authority figure. Try and also encourage this young lady to develop better self esteem, as this is usually also an issue.

Will keep ya in prayer Cloak. Keep your self in prayer and do be careful. If at times you can have someone else with you to witness this would be good to consider. And realize that you are a witness to her not needed that you convert her ultimately that is her choice and you may only be planting a seed. Also remember to keep the full armor of God on as they do believe in spiritual things and do deal with demons. Also realize that with Wiccans there is sometimes a possibility of accusations towards women if not careful.

I second this advice and also want to say to you remember you are planting and watering, God will give the increase. If after a season, she moves no further towards Christ, you may be led of God to lessen the frequentcy of your contact with her. Follow that leading. It may be to allow God to give the increase, expecially if she continues in the witchcraft and moves no closer towards repentance and salvation in Jesus Christ. Realizing when your part is done and heeding the spirit of God in that regard is almost as important as witnessing to her in the first place.
