Did anyone know that he was selling cars now? Danny Riley told that the other night when I saw them.

Interesting. At least the buyers will know they are dealing with someone with very high ethics!

If I was going to buy a car, which I am not in need of, I would give Jonathon my business.

I'm not sure if I believe this post, I guess I would have had to been there. If he is, he would be good at it. I wish he would be singing somewhere! I just hope this is NOT a forum to start rumors, or make fun of Jonathan.

He will surely be good at selling cars or any other type salesperson. He was certainly good at selling Gold City products.

I just hope this is NOT a forum to start rumors, or make fun of Jonathan. This is not a rumor, I spoke with Danny at a concert a week ago Sunday night, I told him I was curious about what Jonathon was doing, and he said "He's selling Ford Cars!"

The Press Release just mentioned that "the road had taken a toll" on his life. He has traveled for a very long time. Maybe he just felt like it was time to stay home with his family. Whatever...... we all wish him well!

ORIGINAL: kidwell34 how long do you suppose he was on the road-Years wise? I'm guessing at least 20+ years starting with his family, The Wilburns, and then 12 years with Gold City. One of my favorite albums from the Wilburns is "Sing It" from 1988 when they were just a trio with Jonathon, Jackie & Elaine.

Maybe Jackie, Elaine, Jonathan and Tony Gore can get together for a few select dates and recreate a little 'Alabama Lightning'.

One of my favorite albums from the Wilburns is "Sing It" from 1988 when they were just a trio with Jonathon, Jackie & Elaine. Actually, when they did that recording in '88, they had been singing for quite a few years prior to that, so it's reasonable to think it's closer to 30 years. I have 2 or 3 LPs of The Wilburn Family when Jon's two brothers, Jimmy & Jay (and Jim's wife. Kathy) were singing in the group, as well. Even before that, when Jackie & Elaine sang with two other groups, the young child, Jon was featured from time to time as a soloist. I know that doesn't really count so much when you're looking at a fulltime career, but it's still a pretty impressive tenure, either way. I've know them for over 20 years. I love me some Wilburns! The entire family is precious to me and mine. I really miss 'em. Needin' to check on 'em all, I guess, it's been a while since I talked to Mama'Laine.

I think another Wilburn reunion would great! Wouldn't be too hard to get TG, LH, RA, JMc, & TP together. None of them carry a really full schedule anymore. Getting Gary & Josh, and Troy would be the hardest part, since they're now with Tribute & Perrys. Not sure about Michael Helwig or Stacy...Haven't heard asnything about them in a while. Hmmm... Where would be the best place to have something like that? Carthage? Bessemer? Atlanta?

I saw Jonathon at the Southmen reunion. He stayed back stage with us and he looked great. He said he had already sold 3 cars that week and tried to sell us one. I think down the road we will see this great talent back on stage. Jonathon is a great guy, great singer, and man of God. We'll see him again....

Now that is how rumors really get started. yeah, some people are just wanting someone to start trashing someone else. They are just wanting to hear how they are having an affair, or are caught crossdressing, or stealing money from the group, or are strung out on drugs. Funny... I don't see JW doing either of these, but I'm sure that there are plenty of messed up people who have wondered which indescretions he might have done. never crossed theyre mind that God migh have called him to preach, and he's just waiting on God's timing to 'go public' with it. Or even something as tame as he just got tired of road life, and wanted to be 'normal' for a while.

It's just that some people are not as fortunate as some of us that keep up with SG on a daily basis. If you found out 1 or 2 or 3 months later that Jonathan had left Gold City, you may want to ask a question about why. I don't see anything inherently bad about the question.

The thought of Jonathan running around on his drop dead beautiful wife, Sandra makes me laugh. He'd have to be an IDIOT! Have you ever seen her? Whoa! But, then, the thought of him in a dress is even funnier! I 'bout spewed water on my screen! I, too don't see him doing any of these, but what's even funnier than all that is that someone would think that he would! He's about as good and honest of a guy as I have ever known. But, hey, thanks for the post. I got a big laugh out of it...
