This really caught my eye this weekend. Has anyone heard of these downloadable reading devices? $400 seems kinda high. Can you get these other places??

There was a thread about them in books back around Christmas. I have one. There are a couple of other people here who have one. I think it's awesome and while it's expensive, the Sony ebook reader is just $100 cheaper. (And no, if you want a Kindle, you have to buy through Amazon or get one on eBay.)

Thanks so much for your response. Are you glad you bought one? Are you using it much? Do you find the selection of available downloads to be good?

I use it every single day. I read a lot, though, so my husband knew I'd get a lot of use out of it. It has allowed me to get rid of a lot of paper books (we're getting ready to move) and there's a huge selection of downloads. Also, ManyBooks provides all its free books as Kindle versions and you can use a lot of different formats on it anyway, so there's no shortage of books you can read on it.

Thanks so much for the information. I am strongly considering it.
