The great Neil Pert!!!! You're joking, right? You do realize this is Crosswalk Forums, right? If you want to put together a secular super group, I suggest Yahoo Answers or Google Community. This is not to say Neil Pert is not worthy of being included in a super group, because he probably is. I just don't see the point of propping up secular artists when it will inevitably lead to players like Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Slash (GNR), and maybe even Marilyn Manson. We don't need that here. So...as a suggestion for a drummer from the Christian realm, I submit the name Jon Knox (Adam Again/White Heart). Then, for the next suggestion, I'll logically move to bassist and submit the name Bil Brown (Dig Hay Zoose). Next...

Is this a secular or christian band? Rock, pop or jazz? for the christian rock group: Phil Keaggy on guitar Glen Schwartz on guitar (Pacific Gas & Electric, GS and the All Saved Freak Band) John Mehler (LoveSong) on drums John DeGroff (original Petra) on bass Rick Wakeman (Yes, solo) on keys (yes - he is a believer!)

If we're going the acoustic route, then Jerry Douglas on slide and Bella Fleck on banjo. -Dan.

If the original poster wants to have secular artists listed, then let the guy have his say. Go start your own thread if you want to be so high and mighty. As for bass players, I'd pick the guy who played for The Rezillos in the late 70's.

Sure, it's not a TOS violation, but the people who post here tend to be Christians because this is, after all, a Christian website...Crosswalk.com. If you are looking for opinions on the best collection of secular musicians into a single team, you might get more intelligent, experienced responses from a website that caters to secular music fans, don't ya think? Now, if you're looking for opinions from Christians on who are the best secular musicians to put together a super group, then fine. However, as much as I love Phil Keaggy, how many non-Christians are going to put his name up there for guitarist instead of Yngwie Malmsteen or Jimi Hendricks? Let's be honest, man. This would be somewhat like Oprah's magazine trying to assemble a list of the greatest women of all time simply by polling its readers...uh, who do you think would come in first? They would be better served polling readers of the New York Times, etc. BTW...what was that avatar of yours that was banned?

And, as an FYI, if you're a true musician, you will have heard of Christian artists that play your instruments. Just because you choose to view life through a narrow tunnel doesn't mean everybody does. I knew who Phil Keaggy was 20 years before I got saved. Why? Because as a guitar fan I had read about him. Imagine that!

Imagine that! Yes, but 20 years ago would you have put Phil Keaggy in your all-star band? I'm not saying he doesn't belong there, I'm making the point that this forum has a Christian bias and will favor artists like him. I'm all in favor of the Christian bias here, of course. It's the whole reason the website exists. As for the "holier than thou" attitude. Have you heard of the apostle Paul? He said to be holy as he is holy. Do you despise him, too? Why is it bad to have standards?

You didn't read my post, did you? No, I read your post and it confirmed my thoughts that you are very narrow-minded. The original poster mentioned Neil Peart, so I assume we could post secular musicians. If you want your own thread of "Christian musicians only", feel free to start it. BTW, you are probably too holy to appreciate my last avatar...

Don't think so. It doesn't make it any more or less correct, but it does make it a little more surprising that in the time you've spent here, you had observed neither the surprisingly eclectic music tastes of some of the regulars here nor their abhorence of legalistic attitudes towards music. -Dan.

Thought we had another thread. Anyone as long as you have any of these WONDERFUL people: bass: ALYSSA BARLOW guitar: BECCA BARLOW drums (especially!): LAUREN (ODIE) BARLOW HOMER!!! Ramon, you're a HOMER!! time for some Dove Love!! (Oh, I and I can't believe someone mentioned Rush, just because I kinda find it coincidental...lately, I've thought of the Ladies Barlow as a kind of all-girl Rush (one of these so-called guitar-bass-drums "power trios"). Funny, but 'Lyssa plays both bass and keys, like Geddy Lee does.)
