For those middle aged and older:
Has the amount of makeup you wear or the type of makeup products you use changed from when you were in your 20' or 30's? If so how? For example, I used to wear red lipstick and now I don't.

Nope. Haven't worn any since I was about 18, and don't intend to start now (I'm 48).
I wear a light moisturiser with factor 15 sunscreen, and lip balm, and that's it!!

I'm still in my 30's...but LATE 30's...so I hope you don't mind my putting in my thoughts...yes I have definately changed what and how I wear makeup throughout my life. Like most young women, I didn't really get the 'less is more' concept in regards to make up when I was in my late teens/20's...in my early 30's I was much better at applying make-up but still applied it more as though I was trying to 'create' my look rather than just compliment it.
Now I wear very little make up...sometimes I wear foundation and sometimes I don't...about the only definites are that I will use an eyebrow brush rubbed across a eyeshadow the color of my eyebrows to tame them and fill them in...a little mascara and some lip balm. If I'm 'dressing up' I might add eyeliner and some light blush...and on VERY RARE occasions some eyeshadow.

The church I used to belong to would not allow members to wear makeup, so yeah -- I've changed that! Now I do -- on occasion. And I glory in occasional bright-red lipstick! (age 59 in a few days)

I've found that less is more now.
I used to wear the whole nine yards. Eyeshadow, blush, foundation, eye liner, lip stick, lip gloss, mascara, etc.
When I choose to wear make-up now, I just use foundation, mascara and lip balm. I'm getting ready to change from a liquid foundation to a powder one.
I'm 43

I like to keep it simple. I am in my forties, when I was younger I would wear a tinted day cream with blush, eye pencil, blue mascara, lipstick, perfume. I would even take my make-up with me to work to apply them in case I could not have time.
Now that I am older I changed a lot and really simplified my life. However, I love mascaras and choose one esp. for sensitive eyes, lip gloss or lip balm, eye pencil and perfume and that's it!
The bottom line is to use Make-up smartly and with wisdom. If you feel that you did not sleep well, sometimes using a foundation make-up with blush on the cheek will boost your self-esteem and will even make you feel better. Eyes look much brighter when we apply some eye make up to them.
So just follow your heart and do it wisely!

I was in my 20's in the 80's so uh yeah...lots of fun-colored makeup - think cyndy lauper
now that I've turned 50 - I find that my make-up is more natural looking today - still wear it, just more neutral colors
I've also found that skin care becomes increasingly important and I should've started taking care of it back in my 20's. 
Cause there ain't a paint known to womankind that can make a crusty old house look any better

One thing I always wear is sunscreen. Even if I don't plan on going out into the sun, it has become my moisturizer. I'm 50 and blonde so I almost always wear mascara... usually some under eye concealer.

I have sleep-problems, and this causes not only deep blue undertones all around my eyes, but if I get to a state of extreme sleep deprivation, I also get a beard-like blue undertone all around my mouth. Further causing problems, I have a chunk of three cholesterol deposits above each eye, close to my nose. I'm tellin' ya', I haven't found ANYTHING that takes care of these things well. Still, I usually don't wear makeup -- about 49 days out of 50, more likely more, I don't put any one.
One thing that has helped a lot with this, though, is dying my hair. I have darker salt-and-pepper hair, so I dyed it medium brown, which is a little lighter than it was when I was young. I was stunned when I looked in the mirror afterward -- I mean completely STUNNED! It took at least ten years off my face! The first thing I noticed was that this took the gray-cast from my face. Completely gray hair? Probably never again.

I have blue under my eyes too, and have my whole life. I have pale skin. I use concealer but it only improve the look of my skin, it doesn't hide all of the blue. I wish I could find something that did.

I want to give up powder eye shadow. W/ my eyelids changing, I don't like how hard it is to put powder shadow on easily, always smudging. I like the cream kind better, but not a lot of options out there yet. kd

Well, I now use different types of moisturizers - ones that contain sunscreen. I use eye cream, deep crease cream and lip cream. I wear foundation to even everything out (lot's of sun damage). My eyelids have changed, too, and like wareaglekd, I prefer cream or pencil shadows (Avon has many).
I usually wear browns and pinks rather than blues/greens/purples these days. I've never worn much lipstick - only to church or out to dinner. Because I work at a daycare, I'm always kissing kids, so lipstick is impractical!

Ya know in a pinch and to have a more natural look during the day, I put on my make-up and all that, but I use my blush as eyeshadow...just lightly brush it across my closed eyes whenever I apply it to my face.
A little liner and mascara and you have a very natural, pretty look that avoids the creasing and pulling of your eyelids.
anyways...works for me

anyways...works for me
I also use a smidgen of blush as eye shadow from time to time. Once in a while I'll blend a smidgen of blush over my lip balm as well. Gives a natural look.
