Okay, I've gotta admit, my almost 5 year old daughter got me hooked. She doesn't have the greatest voice, but she's a great performer and writes some great hooks. From the Barbara Walters interview, it appears she's a Christian. Any thoughts?

i love her voice, and she might be a Christian, but does her music actually glorify God? i dont think so. it's all about bf/gf relationships, which are good to avoid.

I'm tired of the overused expression "glorify God". It means so many things to so many people, but no one gets to the point as to whatever it's supposed to mean. So she sings about stuff that's relevant to a teenager, like boyfriends and girlfriends. THAT'S what girls her age think about. Who hasn't?? Are teen relationships evil? Now I get the idea as to why future romantic relationships and marriages by Christians are all messed up.

Actually, most of her songs talk about that whole "dual identity" thing......

I think it's more important that her LIFE be glorifying to God rather than just have her sing a bunch of songs with lyrics that might only give the appearance of said glorifying. imho, of course.

As the father of 2 daughters... YES they are EEEEEEVVVVIIIL! (lol) (sarc/off) Actually from what I have read and heard from her, she "gives God the glory" for her life and the success she has enjoyed. Although I am not a fan of hers, I know my 4 kids can't get enough.

Miley Cyrus has blown up! I hear her songs everywhere, She's plastered everywhere. Kids love her. So far, she's been a great role model. -Sam

I have a different opinion of her now. From all the products that are Hannah Montana merchandise, it seems she cares more about new ways to make money. The girl has anything and everything! (She markets everything.) The Bible says when people get too focused on being rich, they fall away from God. I think she just wants to be an emulator of Mary Kate and Ashley. That's not my definition of "role model." Does she give any money to other organizations/charitiies?

How much of that is her and how much of that is trusted advisors, her network and other people trying to get their bite of the apple? At her age she probably would rather not be in control of her own finances. quote:

If and when she starts to go all freaky on us - then I'll consider pulling her DVD off the shelf and her CD out of my dd's stereo. But for now - I think she's shown that she's got a pretty decent head on her shoulders, that she listens to the counsel of her parents, and she KNOWS from WHO all of that came. And I AIN'T talking Disney here! Blessings, Garsy

Ugh. Commercial/mainstream/pawn of the industry attacks yet again. I detest Miley Cyrus on so many levels. Rather like any other celebrity, her image is fake and manufactured to appeal to the masses. She has little talent, as far as I'm concerned, and her songs are more fluffy than cotton candy. Why do I say this? Well, I've heard her singing voice when not aided by studio tricks. Rather like any pop singer, she has little vocal talent; her age becomes glaringly appearant. And I am tortured by a younger sister who constantly watches the show, hence an extension of her commercial identity. The songs don't say a thing 99% of the time, ranging from topics such as her Hannah identity to how much she "rocks." *ahem* And the concerts-I use the term liberally-are a travesty of justice. There is such an artificial restriction on supply, and such a hyped demand among the 10-14 group that the prices are beyond ridiculous, especially for such a small arena. Rock in Rio, now that's a concert: 250,000 people. That's real demand, and the supply can't even keep up; there's only so many places to stand.

She does what she's told to do.

Exactly my gripe her: she does what she's told to. Not that obedience is bad. It's that every aspect of her life seems to be controlled by someone else for the greatest commercial benefit.

This shows how clueless I am. I thought Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus were different singers.
