I don't know if this topic is suited for the televison page or the current events page because this show deals with current events, but as we all know, NBC named Tom Brokaw as the temporary host for "Meet The Press," replacing the late Tim Russert. I believe that was a good move for the network because Russert took the program to a new level and especially providing excellent election coverage.

Now, the viewers have to look to the future of the program and Brokaw will not have this gig forever. So who would you have as a host of Meet The Press?

The obious canadates are as follows:

David Gregory

Chuck Scarborogh

Andrea Mitchell

Chris Matthews

All of the above comes from NBC/MSNBC.

They are also considering Keith Obermann, but unfortunatly, Obermann with the liberal views would be a liablity for the program.

I know of some outsiders too that should have the job..

Ed Gordon--A successful journalist who worked for BET and CBS, and is host of "Black Enterprize"

Anderson Cooper--Host of *360 on CNN

Candy Crolwey---Works at CNN's Washington bureau

Do you think these canadates are worthy of replacing Russert? Why or why not?

I read somewhere that Gwen Iffel (sp?) from PBS and Katie Couric (when her CBS contract runs out) were possible replacements.

Katie Couric? My emotions says it all. I would like to see either David Gregory or Andrea Mitchell take over. They are more familiar with the goings on in Washington.

David Gregory would also give me the same reaction:

..Having Couric hosting MTP is just like having Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannery hosting the show. Or even Michael Savage..Or even Roland Martin of CNN.

Please....

I have no idea who should replace Tim Russert. Though I rarely, have ever seen Meet The Press, I would imagine that the best candidate for the job would be someone who does not have a political agenda or a particular world view. I would imagine he would be a journalist more interested in asking tough questions and getting to the heart of issues than in shaping agendas, opinions and world views.

They should fill the slot with Alistair Begg.

Although Russerts shoes are probably impossible to fill, I hope they choose Gwen Ifill - she is excellent.

Peace and God bless,
