I don't use that term.. But have indeed heard it used many times.. but usually by those in Word of Faith type circles.

For one thing as earthless wrote it is a certian type people that uses that phrase not all of us do. The only thing I plead the blood is on my sins in which I have commited. The boy in Fort Worth TX. says you can plead it on everything, even a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich.

It's like "pleading" the 5th Amendment. It's relying on what you have through the 5th or through the Blood. For what it's worth.

My mom uses this catch phrase all of the time and it is a WOF stalwart. That being said the term ,"plead the blood of Jesus" in and of itself is fine. There's a tendency on this board to hate all things WOF, and while I do think their doctrine is way off, some people here, *cough*Soxfan*cough* would condemn them if they said,"Jesus is Lord" and it wasn't followed by something off the wall.

Heb 10:19 - 22 (ESV) 19Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. It is through the blood of Jesus we have the confidence to enter the most Holy Place. The problem with catchphrases is the often become just a cliche and in so doing, lose their impact. i.e.I plead the blood that I get a good parking spot.
