NEWARK, Texas - Here in the gentle hills of north Texas, televangelist Kenneth Copeland has built a religious empire teaching that God wants his followers to prosper.

Over the years, a circle of Copeland's relatives and friends have done just that, The Associated Press has found. They include the brother-in-law with a lucrative deal to broker Copeland's television time, the son who acquired church-owned land for his ranching business and saw it more than quadruple in value, and board members who together have been paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for speaking at church events.

Kenneth Copeland the Profit

Is this a surprise to anyone?

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to post about this. No, it doesn't surprise me that Kenneth Copeland and his inner circle has a lot of money. I can't begrudge it to him, either. The man teaches a form of doctrine, people enjoy his form of doctrine and pay handsomely for it. You won't find me forking over my cash to him though. I would rather take that $600 I might send to him and use it to build a house in Myanmar.

We can pick any big TV evangelist (him/her) and find the same
trappings. Multi-million dollar homes; Car Collections; Big bank accounts.

Seems like the number-game (followers and/or church memberships);
bank-accounts; etc. are deemed favor of God and proof of being right on.

Yet, we violate the very things that does please our Lord and Saviour.
They all have orphanages and the other appearances of obedience,
but only God knows if it's just tools of the trade or obedience.

I watched many rise and fall and I've come to a big conclusion.
A lot of what they claim is the "power of the spirit" is just the
"power of the microphone." Marketing techniques, etc.

So, it's no surprise so many "ministers" are in the rich and famous.
Hording up the gold and silver that will only be dust in the real Kingdom.

I have forked over a lot of money to these charlatans over the decades.
But, my eyes are open to the real truths. I've repented for allowing myself
to be deceived. I am richer by far than many of them even though I live
from paycheck to paycheck.

The real mission fields are our own homes and families and the next door
neighbors. If we reached them truly, the ripple effect would cover the world.

I beg to differ, unless you don't consider Billy Graham a "big TV evangelist." And there are others if you'd take the time to research. No, I don't doubt there are frauds like Copeland or Murdock who only preach junk like "send me SEED money" that are filthy... and rich. But there are also genuine evangelists on TV.

Ministries that capitalize on biblical mandates to give, do so upon dangerous grounds.
WE are to flee all appearance evil, Eph 5:3 But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints.
You wont hear this verse quoted and obeyed. The reality we live in, is that ministries have become large religious machines that need feeding, millions of dollars, that is, to feed them. The hungry mouths, the board, president, the staff, the media, the perks, the transportation etc etc. All this is to obtain a goal set by the evangelist, and I used the term verrrrry loooooosly. The goal of course is to ever expand the ministry. Salvations, healings, giving, missions are a long way from being a close third or fourth on the list. When you feed the religious machines you propogate the greed of these men and their family, you continue to bury them. Day by day, hell awaits these men. They will be overwhelmed when they hear "depart from me" I dont care how well they have distanced themselves from their financial profit making businesses, they are all tied together to serve one purpose and that is the copeland philosophy which is expand, grow, heap up, tear downt he little barns and build bigger ones. So we throw the poor folks a few bones, so we feed some people and send some clothes, thats in the budget, but is not in the main thrust of ministry existence. Keep on feeding them and you will only create the largest religious pit of greed to this day

Prisoner Profile

PRISONER NAME LOCATION ARRESTED REVISED
Alimujiang Yimiti China January 2008 July 29, 2008
In September 2007 Chinese government officials closed Alimujiang Yimiti’s business and accused him of using it as a cover up for “preaching Christianity among people of Uyghur ethnicity.” He was later arrested in January 2008 and accused of “subversion of the national government and endangering national security,” a crime punishable by death. Alimujiang, a former Muslim, became a Christian more than 10 years ago and has been an active Christian in the growing Uyghur church. On May 27 Alimujiang’s case went to trial. His case was referred back to the Chinese Public Security Bureau’s prosecutors due to “insufficient evidence.”

When I get sick of looking at the profane I turn to look at Christians who are worthy of the name.

good point. My pastor is on TV (daystar, and a few other networks)......the big difference is that he is a TRUE pastor of a real church, and the others are primarily broadcasters without a "real" church congregation.....
Our pastor's programs are essentially edited sermons from Sunday morning church (edited to allow them to fit into the 1/2 hour timeslot).....it's not like it's JUST a TV show.....

Uhm... Creflo Dollar, Joel Osteen, and Kenneth Copeland come to mind... all have established churches that they preach at every week.

While his amassed wealth may bother me a little, it is his peddling of complete and utter HERESY that bothers me more.

Exactly. And that is mostly because I believe ministries/churches/organizations should have to reveal their entire spending/budget if they want a non-profit status/tax exemptions.
