The latest Republican political speaking point is McCain's repeated message that withdrawal of troops and "victory" will be determined by "conditions on the ground".

Does anyone have any idea what this means? How is "victory" defined? When all Iraqi insurgency has ended? When the Shiite, Sunni and Kurds end their centuries old tribal fighting? When Muslims convert to Christianity? When Iraq becomes an American colony?

If Republicans have no clear cut definition of what they consider "victory" we could well be in Iraq for over 100 years.

I don't care. The BOssiah knows, and that's good enough for me.

Well you could get everyone's opinion by asking that question here or you could get the facts by going to McCain's website.

"John McCain believes it is strategically and morally essential for the United States to support the Government of Iraq to become capable of governing itself and safeguarding its people. He strongly disagrees with those who advocate withdrawing American troops before that has occurred."

Strategy for Victory in Iraq

Even the Iraqi government stated that U.S. withdrawal will depend on situations on the ground.

" Ali al-Dabbagh said any timetable would depend on 'conditions and the circumstances that the country would be undergoing.' But he said a pullout within 'three, four or five' years was possible."

Iraq official: U.S. could be out by 2011

And FYI: as has been reported numerous times, McCain did not say we would be fighting the war in Iraq for the next hundred years, even though the liberals would have everyone think that. No, he said we could have a presence in Iraq for the next hundred years, just as we maintain a presence in Kuwait, S. Korea, Japan and Germany.

"Republican presidential front-runner Sen. John McCain on Thursday defended his statement that U.S. troops could spend "maybe 100" years in Iraq -- saying he was referring to a military presence similar to what the nation already has in places like Japan, Germany and South Korea."

McCain defends '100 years in Iraq' statement

That won't do - if the author of the OP were to do as you suggest, then he couldn't produce another fact-less smear on McCain, and there would be nothing for him to post about.

All you have to do is watch liberals to know how we're doing in Iraq. When our failures increase, like a child on Christmas morning they can't restrain their excitment. When our success increases their excitment disappears. They've just discovered Santa Claus is a fake.

Compare today to their glory days when Cindy Sheehan fantasized about murdering an infant George Bush. That was their Christmas. By comparison, today they hardly talk about the war against terrorism in Iraq. That's because America is winning.

I guess if people actually read the Obama website the same would be said for yourself and the other Obama fact-less smearmongerers. Maybe then we wouldn't have 200 Obama bashing threads. Because, afterall, the candidate's websites tell no lies.

What would people talk about then?!? The issues??!?

You asked about what McCain's view was on an issue, the best source for your answer is not a forum filled with various opinions but rather the horses mouth, aka his website.

Now if you wanted to know how people feel about his position, is he right, is he wrong, what does he really mean, did he flip-flop, etc.. that is what people come here for and that is what the majority of the NObama threads are about.

Hey, whenever you want to talk about the issues, let us know.

I realize that the OP is being sarcastic. But, you know, it gives me great comfort to know that "I" don't need to know the answers to to these questions. The President of the United States probably has a "little" more information on this situation that we do. If you have a boss, do you think he is obligated to share every piece of information regarding running his company with you? I am so glad that I can lay my head down on my pillow at night and not worry about it.
