Can anyone recommend a good book, commentary, study guide or something for the book of Revelation? I am looking for a single volume not something that includes multiple volumes, CDs, etc.

Also, I realize there are different interpretations of the Book of Revelation, so please do not turn this thread into a debate over interpretations. Please simple recommend books and why you think it is a good choice. I have no problem with someone offering a cautionary note about a volume as long as the discussion does not get too far off the specific book in question.

Again, I am looking for a study aid not a deep theological debate.

Thanks…

I might suggest "Four Views on the Book of Revelation." You can find it on Amazon easily.
It does not go super in-depth, in that it doesn't always give a verse-by-very commentary, but it provides a good overview on what the four main interprative views believe about Revelation. It also offers counter-arguments from the other sides, allowing for something that does its best to be fair and balanced.
Hope that helps!

I recently read John MacArthur's "Because the Time is Near," a simple trade paperback in which he boils down to the essence what is contained in his two volume commentary on Revelation. He is a pre-trib, premil dispensationalist. Maybe two or three small charts and maps, but mostly test, and a very enjoyable and easy read.

Dan Juster's "Revelation, the Passover Key" is pretty good, and a totally different view of the book than any I have ever read.

it is down about 3 or 4 books from the top.

BarryLee,

Here are a few of my recommendations (in no particular order):

1. George Ladd's A Theology of the New Testament
2. Michael Wilcock's The Message of Revelation
3. Anthony Hoekema's The Bible and The Future

J.Vernon MCGee's Thru the Bible(vol 5)or his study in Revelation(two paperbacks)takes the view of not prophecy, necessary, but the mystery of Christ Jesus revealed. Amazon.com is the cheapest I've found.
