Happy Mothers Day everyone !!!

Hope everyone has a great day. Alexis (9 year-old) had to go to the ER yesterday she pulled a muscle and bruised her ribs poor little thing in so much pain. I feel so bad for her. There isn't really anything I can do to help her just give the pain medicine the doctor gave us.

My kids were dying when they heard it. Even they realized that that is how they talk.

They should have had one that said "Mother, I need to use the bathroom could you please kindly finish up in there" and then "Mooommmm!!! I got to peeee now!!!!! What's taking you so long!!!!! You've been in there forever!!!!"

Too cute, Zoe!

Jessica, thanks for the idea of posting on your blog for your mom. I just did one too, and emailed her the link. That was kind of hard to do because I know she doesn't read here already...but I know it will bless her.

Happy Mother's Day!!!!

Alright Jessica and Maggie, I'm waiting to hear about your CVS deals

I actually looked at the flier online and am thinking about stocking up on diapers and wipes this week. The rest of the deals are things we don't use.

My mom sent me the greatest card ever. I jumped when I opened it up--it plays the William Tell Overture really loud! That's the theme song from The Lone Ranger, and there's a picture of a woman riding a horse--mom to the rescue.

All the ladies in church got carnations, but mine go broken, and then it go lost.

Question for discussion--

Does anyone else feel like they're doing too much and too little at the same time? I'm not sure how to put it really. Too much being...the laundery and diapers never end, I'm always busy trying to get something done, some need taken care of, and it is soooo easy to fall into the trap of telling the boys to "go read a book" while I finish up my list of things to do.
But at the same time, I don't feel like I'm actually *doing* much. Time disappears. If I take the morning at the park, I feel guilty. If I sit down to read or write, I feel guilty.

I *know* that I am doing what's best for my kids and my family, that I'm doing valuable work, etc. I believe all that wholeheartedly but I still can't escape feeling like I'm "busy doing nothing" at times.

Well I have gotten Paul hooked on CVS now! He got a card last week. The receipt keeps track of how much OOP (out of pocket) you have spent and how much you have saved each quarter (of the year.) He has spent a total of $1.83 and saved over $60... in a week!
Today he spent $1.12 OOP for 5 12 packs of Coke. (He did have my help conniving that one!) and he did "lose" $4 in extra bucks - as he went in to the store today with $16 EB and walked out with $12 - but he got the 5 12 packs of Coke and 5 tubes of toothpaste. Super Hubby

I haven't done anything on my card yet for the week. I am going to wait till after Wednesday night. At prayer meeting one of the older ladies gives me all her (Sunday paper) coupons So I patiently wait till then to scour the coupons and make my CVS run on Thursday morning or Friday at stocking time.

Repetitive chores make me feel like that. Like cleaning up Judah's toys - he "helps" me, but we do it three or four times a day. Vacuuming happens (or should ) at least once a day... I just feel like the same things need to be done over and over and over again - and like I am progressing no where!!

Maggie and Jess, when I feel like that, I remember back to my days of working at the hospital in xray. Even there, there was a constant need of doing the same things over and over and you don't always feel like you are accomplishing much. But when I was out for a day or two and no one had worked in "my" area (except for the really important things), I came back to a gigantic mess, not unlike when I'm sick or unable to do much at home for a couple days.

Sometimes I think I got more in the way of rewards when I was working, because I got a decent paycheck there and money was never tight then. BUT I had to leave Noah in daycare, and hated that part of it. My rewards now might be mostly unseen, but they are there...in the hearts and lives of my kids and my husband.

Funny you should mention this Maggie, I was just feeling discouraged in this today. The dished are *never* done. Even when they're done, they're still not done. The kitchen table is never cleaned off for more than 5 minutes, the floor is dirty only 10 minutes after cleaning it. And laundry never ends either.

I'm wondering today, on mother's day, when we ever get a break from this stuff...I'm tired of it already!

On the other hand, I had a terribly busy weekend, and I'm exhausted, and that could have a little something to do with my attitude

Yolanda that's what its like here too! I think it gets more hectic and busy the more kids you get too! I could keep things quite tidy and organised with just Grace, but now with another bubba and Grace getting older its so hard to keep clean and organised and spend time with the kids yet spend time doing other things that you have to do to plus having a little time to relax yourself.

WE have decided to wait on the house stuff. I can't remember whether I said that or not in the old thread.

Sometimes I feel like I should just let the kitchen floor stay dirty... Oh, I know I shouldn't, but...

Nathan got his first busted lip today. He fell, but didn't cry for long. Scared the dickens out of me, though. He's such a boy. He can find the smallest bit of mud in a large park; he seems to enjoy digging in the mud so much, I don't have the heart or will to stop him.

He can take the big boy slides now, too. The slide is taller then me, but does pretty well.

LOL...I was at that stage years ago...now I DO let the cleaning go if I need to...I figure eventually I will catch up on it again. It is a never ending cycle, but being organized really helps...so I have worked hard this past year to organize and not just clean. Yes there are days I don't want to walk across my floor because it is nasty (ok, so I also have a floor thing...I vacuum at LEAST once a day cause I can't stand stuff under my feet). Really though it gets easier when the kids get bigger...my older two are now at the age that I can be in more of an "oversee" mode then a "hands-on" mode.

I might have an easier time keeping up if I was actually getting any sleep and then I might not want to sit and just drink coffee all day.

Christina, you asked about our trailer...yes, it's a travel trailer. We live near a National park, and they have three campgrounds in the park, and one of them is awesome. We camp mostly to get away, more than the camping experience. We used to have a tent, and we tented sometimes, until I was too pregnant to sleep on the ground anymore Hubby's parents camp there every weekend, and lots of other people from our little town. So we know lots of people there.
It's near a big fishing village, so we can get seafood if we like, or whatever. It also has the highest tides in the world, so we can do beach walks, and things like that. Oh, and there are tons of trails and hikes, a gigantic playground (more helpful in a few years) and a golf course. It's a small national park, but it's so nice to go there, we really love it.
Of course, if we have friends going somewhere else some weekend, we will go along.
I'm getting excited. There was one problem with the trailer, it's about 30 years old and the floor was rotten in some places, so hubby is ripping it up and putting new plywood and then laminate floor. Hopefully he can get it done tonight so that I can get in there and start cleaning. However, he works at a farm sometimes in the summer, and the guy might want him to work tonight. I hope not!!
The people who we bought the trailer left lots of stuff in there: patio lights, plates, bowls etc., kettle, toaster, coffee maker, microwave. So we don't have to buy any appliances for it, and the fridge in it is brand new.
We are ripping out the old curtains and valences and replacing with white mini blinds, we found some new cushions for the table bed, they were brand new and only $35! For our bed in the back, I think we'll throw out the cushions and get a futon mattress for that part.

I doubt it will all be done by this weekend...hubby wants to leave friday morning!

How was everyone's mother's day?

Mine was good. Justin called, so that was great!
And my girlfriends and I had a ball. The kids were all filthy and tired, but boy did they have fun! Good food, nice weather, lots of girlie chat...very nice!

Glad you had a good day, Sandy.

Happy Monday, everyone! We have a WIC appointment this morning and I have to see if I can get into the doctor. I survived the weekend with this sinus thing, but don't want to go another day with this never ending headache! Sandy, isn't this the second time I've had a sinus thing right before you were coming? If you're still wanting to come this week, and PLEASE do not feel like you have to...only if you really want and are needing a break. If you say "another time", I won't be hurt...and if you wanted to come today, I won't be hurt.

My mom got the email and read the post about her. Now I'm sure she'll read the entire blog over the next few days...Yikes! It's different to put things out there for you all and for me to look back on, but weird to think of my Mom reading it, KWIM?

I don't think I'll come this week Donna. I want to leave you be to feel better...and yes this is the second time. you got sick right before Easter too! are you trying to tell me something? j/k

Okay...the beginning of the week. I leave Thursday afternoon for a retreat with my Momma, so anytime before that is great. Levi has a well-child appt Monday, but he's not getting any shots, so that's fine too. If you're here on Wednesday, you can come to Bible study with me...and I'm leading that week. Maybe I should switch.

OR...if you don't have plans for Memorial Day...that would be fun too. Noah's in a parade and then we go to my mom's for a BBQ. I'll be back from the retreat Saturday night.

Just let me know...I'm flexible. Well, my body isn't so much anymore...but you KWIM.

Then we can have some lunch and hang a bit, then I'll head home.
