The emotional effect of the human drama and drain on resources in tiny European Island and their communities. "Thousands of Africans try the perilous sea crossing to the Canaries each year. So far this year, almost 7,000 illegal immigrants have arrived by boat in the Canary Islands, a slight fall on the same period last year. To deter potential migrants, the government has invested in the economies of several West African nations; and produced short films warning of the dangers of taking to the sea." "Tiny Malta Struggles With Migrants:The number of African migrants arriving in Malta has more than tripled: from 502 in 2003, to 1,780 last year. Most of them are there by mistake. They wanted to get to Italy but were blown off course or were rescued at sea. They do not want to be in Malta and Malta does not particularly want them. Malta has been appealing for help: more ships, helicopters and equipment to increase border patrols. It also wants "burden-sharing": that is, EU countries less exposed by geography taking in a share of the migrants. " "Egyptians risking all to enter Europe:"I have met many people who tried four times and failed, but they still go, get caught and return," said Dr Ayman Zohry a researcher who has studied illegal emigration to Europe. Legal emigration to Europe is extremely difficult if not impossible for Egyptians. There is no prospect of that changing which means that many more young men will drown or go missing until the economies of Egypt and countries like it can provide enough opportunities to keep them at home." "As the Senegalese authorities and the European Union try to clamp down on the flow of Africans arriving in Spain's Canary Islands, a new departure point has opened up - Gambia - just 100km further south of the centre of the Senegalese migrant trade." Migrants boat rescue Village trauma

Gee and I was told only us mexicans are undesirable illegal immigrants! Looks like the pull of a better life in another country is worldwide, and people will do ANYTHING, even being undeterred by deportation, in order to obtain a better life for their families.

Oh no..many many nations do have immigrants problems in their lands, or with neighbors countries or with their ex-colonies peoples wanting to move there and even nations that helps refugees and bring them to their countries ec. I read that Sweden took lots of Iraqis refugees into their lands. Now, just imagine the cost of food is going high is this world, man countries are having many political turbulences..many people are getting hungry and hungry and on top of that oppressed in their lands..for sure many are desperate and trying to find a way to better their lives and keep moving out whenever they can. In Africa many crosses few countrie, desert, civil wars and ocean to get anywhere..some in other places as Haiti, Cuba and Mexico, crosses just 1 or 2 of of those dangerous obstacles..many do keep trying even when they know they can die. Is the human survival instincts into play. But those Islands many are arriving are tiny Islands they do not have the means to take care of all that are comming and comming..plus there is a law in Spain that you cannot abandon a minor but have to take care of them until 18, the system there is over crowded by the kids who come by the boats, the kids have no one if they had they would be deported with their parents or relatives.

When you hear these types of descriptions of how much people sacrifice to leave their homeland and set out in a rickety boat or across a desert to go to a foreign land and try to make a better life for their families, you have to realize that illegal immigration will not and can not be stopped. If people will risk death for a better life, it doesn't matter how high a wall you build or how many troops you put on the border, people will find a way. What we need to do is find a way to get them quickly into the system. Initially as a "guest worker" and then down the path to full citizenship then they will get into the tax system and pay their fair share which is the main complaint. But people will still find it easier not to become legal for some reason so we must shift our thinking from an income tax to a consumption tax. This has many benefits. People will have more disposable income to "stimulate the economy". Those that have been paying no tax can't avoid buying food, gas, utilities and can be taxed closing tax avoidance for millions of illegal immigrants. In states that have it (like CA) they can't avoid paying sales tax so illegal immigrants contribute to the state's coffers. Since the system would tax consumption, people who wish to limit their taxes can do so by saving the money and any economist will tell you that their is a savings deficit in this country. Of course this is accomplished by a major change in the current tax system and I doubt the dunderheads in the federal government could facilitate such a massive change.

I do think most people love their original lands, and that are differences what is the motive they migrate to other lands..may be lack of food and economics, opportunities, civil wars and conflicts..there are difference between desperation to run for ones life and the necessity to move just for a while but not stay in other lands, and the desire to really make a definitive move. People do you really think that people want to leave their lands and forget all behind? Most people want to live peaceful in wherever they came from. We must come up with solutions to help them and each region, nation, states, cities, tribes and etc have their own issues going on. Plus lets not forget if our actions end up somehow messing up or helping others messing up peoples lives..lets facilitate, intermediate or whatever needed and treat our neighbors (Biblical ways) the way we want to be treated and etc. Its so much burocracy, self interests and many things involved as third parties plays that is just crazy crazy crazy all over the world. Divine intervention is the perfect solution because none here on earth will implement anything right everywhere there people breaths and live. Perspective on the heart of every matter comes from God's own heart. We must be move by Him and His wisdom in everything if we do fear Him, of course.
