reading some false doctrine for a freind, Ronald Wineland, this man rambles so, but this is something I think I picked up. He makes no sense, double speaks, says things about those who worship on Sunday, are false Christians. Can anyone fill me in on the old nature of this church and beliefs.

I did a little searching, and what I found is that apparently this group follows "Armstrongism" which is heresy and contrary to the truth of scripture. I don't think it is "oneness" but it does deny the person of the Holy Spirit.

This appears to be just another cult spreading the lies of satan. One of the oldest lies, "and you will be like god," at that. The core deception of this group seems to center around teaching that humanity can become gods.

The old worldwide church of God had very unusual beliefs. I wouldn't know exactly to describe what catagory it would fall into.

They believed the God-head was a family. If you basically followed all the festivals, kept the law, you would become of member of this God-head family.

The Holy Spirit wasn't a person, but a force.

The did believe somewhat in the deity of Christ though. So I'd say they were more or less, dualist, with an extended family of those who kept the festivals and the law.

To be fair though, the current leadership of the church has recanted and repented of the past beliefs of armstrongism. They are now considered an orthodox christian fellowship.

Any current armstrongism out there today are splinter groups from this group.

When they recanted and repented, members left by the droves. I'm sure there is some died in the wool armstrongist in the church that doesn't want to leave, hoping for a return, but I don't see that happening.

By the way, Hank Hannegraaf was instrumental in helping them see the truth in light of Scripture, plus a few others.

Thanks everyone. The Holy Spirit as a force thing, and I did not or could not get a feel on Jesus, it did not come out oneness really, but a strange view of the Trinty, OT laws, and scripture twisting.
