Good Monday morning, everybody! Hope you all had a good weekend I've been to the gym already, and now Garrett's here, and we're going to make a short trip to town to look at a window for the room I was going to work on last week and had decided not to. Well, I'm still not taking the wall down, but I am putting a new window in there. The old window is a small one -- the original trailer window with the screen on the inside. Very ugly. I want something lower that I can see out of easier, and even set plants in -- what good's a windowsill without plants??? . . . anyway, I'm going to see what I can find -- smaller than what I had first chosen last week, but bigger & prettier than what is there now.

Hi all! Thanks for starting a new thread, Leah. Yay for being done at the dentist Barb! I hope your computer comes back better than ever Marsha. The highlight of the weekend was the Pinewood Derby. First my 10yo won first place in his den (the Webelos). Then he won first place overall (out of 55 cars)!!!!! He was very excited, and got a trophy! He had high hopes for this car, so I'm glad he wasn't disappointed. Sadly, hubby was at work. Maybe he'll get to see him race at regionals, we'll see. Dee

Wow, Dee!!! That's great -- out of 55 cars! Tell him congratulations! . . . our son was in the Pinewood Derby kinda of thing at our church one time. Don't remember what it was called for sure. I take it your son's is in the Boy Scouts? quote:
Had a good weekend. Very relaxing and without a computer - I had to find things to do like read. What a novel idea!! Marsha, I have a sign by my computer -- compliments of 2 'friends' at church -- that says "A clean house is a sign of a a broken computer." . . . now how would they know how much time I spend on here??! . . . but yeah, a broken computer can do lots of things -- like enriching the mind with the written word We just got back from dinner -- Chinese buffet. Why do I always eat so much I'm miserable??? . . . sure was good, tho I found a window for my room. It's a 48x48' awning window. Really wasn't crazy about the screen being on the inside, but decided that would make it easier to remove when I have no need of it, and I DID want the convenience of being able to open the window without removing all the plants I'll have in it. So this afternoon was spent 'peeling' the paint off the wall (with a friend's help) . . yep, that's how bad that paint job was. Most of it is peeled off -- really, the only places it didn't want to peel were in the corners & around the trim. Gotta find an easier way to get that part off.

Yes, N is in scouts, and thanks Leah, I'll tell him! Sadly, I need one of those "broken computer = clean house" signs too. I'm glad you found a window; sometimes it's hard to find just the right thing for those projects. Leah, how would you shorten a prom dress that has strips of contrasting fabric on the very bottom? Meaning I can't just fold under the bottom, I hope that makes sense. Would you cut off the bottom, shorten it, and sew it back together? Or just add an extra seam down there? Prom is Saturday and we need to do something with this dress. Time is running out. I'd rather not mess with it if we can find someone, but maybe we should just do it ourselves. E will do some checking tomorrow I think, but she works after school, so the options are limited. Personally I'd like to just shorten it at the waist, with lots of tape, or (more likely) a seam, but E doesn't like that idea, so.... Dee

Dee, is there a seam between the bottom strips and the rest of the skirt? If so, perhaps you could shorten it there. You'd have to take off that bottom strip, shorten the dress that remains, measure the new circumference of the skirt and change the length of the strip to match before sewing it back on. Those are my thoughts. Linda could very well disagree with me and have a better idea.

Yes Maggie, there is a seam. So you mean rip out the seam there? That might work. I haven't looked at how it's made much, but that makes sense. Thanks! Dee

That's what I'd do, too, Dee. You say 'strips', so maybe you're meaning more than one constrasting fabric. I'd take those strips off at the seam connecting it to the main body of the skirt, then shorten that main body -- so that you're taking the length off the main color. Then, as Maggie says, measure the new circumference of the part you've just cut from and match the circumference of the 'strips' with that before sewing them back on. A seam at the waist would be very bulky, and lots of tape, would likely not hold up with lots of movement.

Good morning, Barb . . . it's only 33 here, and I'm sure that's not as low as it got. Glad I covered my plants last night. It is supposed to get to 50 today, then the rest of the week (until Saturday) it's to be in the 70s with lows only around 60. But the sun is shining this morning, so that sure looks good! Gotta get into my room and get to work -- peel the rest of the paint off the wall. Bill suggested using the hair dryer to get the stubborn corners, etc., to turn loose, and I think it's going ot work.

Thanks Leah. We'll have to decide if we want to take on that project. Thanks Barb! We have a high of 72F today. My son left in a long sleeve shirt. I almost said something, but I couldn't remember what the high was for today. I'm off to Bible study in a bit. Dee

Hi Marsha! Good to see you in here! My day is ok so far; supper is in the oven and there should be leftovers for tomorrow, so I'm happy. Hubby is trying to fix the mower so we can mow the lawn that is badly in need of a mowing. And speaking of laundry, I've been putting it off since my clothesline is down. Hubby is putting up new posts, but since the mower isn't working.... How's your day going Jordan? Dee

Is there an easy way to get blood out of sheets. The bedding on my bed needs a good laundry but I have no idea how to get the blood Dave leaves out of the sheets. I do know I need to find someway to get the sheets clean. However I don't want to put new sheets on that will get blood on them. Didn't Leah tell ANY one that I visited her Saturday? Her new flooring is very nice. And I saw the room she is peeling paint from. That chore is a doosy. Leah has a beautiful home and she has a talent in decorating it. She is also a good friend listening to cares and sharing insights that help. Barb, I get the kind of behavior you were talking about from my 20's children. Answering your question, "when will they grow up?" I believe it will be when the way they think is not "me" centered but "other" centered.

Good Wednesday morning, everyone! Hey there, Ginny!! Yep, I told some on here -- I think it was in last week's thread, tho, and probably also in mine. Sure did enjoy your visit, tho . . . and we've decided we're going to do that more often. As for your sheets -- I have never had much luck getting that out unless it's very fresh. You might try using a pad where he sleeps, that you can just take off and launder often -- the kind the hospitals use are waterproof, so it would protect your new sheets. Jasmine was my alarm clock this morning . . . tho I DID need to get up, so guess it was okay. I un-earthed one of her toys the other day . . a small, hard plastic ball with a couple of tiny jingle bells inside it. Does anyone have any idea how LOUD that can be rolling across a laminate floor when all is quiet & peaceful??? Sheesh! And to make it worse, she was right beside the recliner I was sleeping in . . . thankfully, I'd had a good night's sleep and it was time for me to get up. Now I'm up, dressed to go to gym, and working on a cuppa coffee before I take off. I'm leaving later than usual on purpose, then when I'm finished at the gym I'll go by and pick up Garrett and finish my errands before coming home. I have to get my car license and the place doesn't open until 9:00 or after. Garrett has a stomach bug, so I may even ask Grandma & Grandpa to keep him for an hour while I do the running -- will need to play that by ear when I call. Yeah, we peeled some more paint yesterday, and I hope to finish it up today. The last wall we did is being quite stubborn, so some of that paint will stay on and we'll just paint over it with the white.

Good Wen. Morning Everyone From yesterdays thread: Hi Jordan Maggie, laundry dries at -40 degree's? Wow..I did'ent know that. Mabey because I would'ent dream of going outside, hanging the laundry, when it was so cold out there. Must FREEZE dry. Brrrrr Dee, did your husband get the mower fixed? We have to buy a new one this year. My husband decided to use mine last year, for trim work, and hit a pipe. Broke the engine and block!! IIt was a GREAT mower till he got ahold of it. Nice self-propelled one my dad gave me. I was so upset. Ginny, I am sure you can find a spot remover for that blood. But in the furture, I would take Leah's advise, and use a protective pad. They sell them at any department stores or drug stores. I like that comment you gave about these "kids" and growing up. "Others centered" vs "me centered" Leah, peeling paint does'ent sound like a project I would want to do. My day should run smoothly today. I am doing Cody's bedding right now. Then I have to hang it outside on the line. Also have a new daycare boy today. He is one that Pam used to watch. So far he seems really good. I also have to figure out the checkbook, and pay some bills today. Later this morning Isabelle will be here. Plan to make meatloaf for supper tonight, with baked potatoes..so supper will be easy. All in all a pretty easy day if you ask me

Oh No..I got that AMBITIOUS STREAK going on again. Who needs something done around the house? Got the bathroom all clean and fresh again..laundry almost done..checkbook figured out..bills paid (what I could pay that is)..and I will finish up the house cleanning soon. Then I think I will go out in the garage and tidy up. May have to wait for the kids nap-time to do that one tho.
