I thought this would be a fun idea for a thread. What's your favorite part about being a woman? What makes you say, "I'm so glad God made me a woman!" What are you glad you get to do that you couldn't have done if you were a man, or that you are glad you don't have to do because you're not a man? Let's share!

For me, one thing I'm glad I get to do is wear pretty clothes. I love to dress up and look pretty, and that just wouldn't be acceptable if I were a guy. Another thing is that I usually don't have to do the dirty jobs. I can pass them off to my husband because that's "men's work".

Not necessarily giving birth, but motherhood has a whole. I wanted to be a mother for as long as I can remember. I can't imagine not being a mother.

I am thankful to be a woman today because with all the emotional turmoil in my life with kids and grandkids and all their "chaos" and the day-to-day physical cost of managing my household (cooking, cleaning, etc.) plus ministering to others, working outside the home, etc.... I am thankful to be a woman because imo God equipped women with the right balance of emotion, strength and stamina to deal with all of this and still be able to find the perfect shade of "pretty" for our lives.

I am loving carrying a child (so far anyway) I am glad I get to experience it rather than watch. I like dressing up and being pretty. I like having my husband be protective of me. I enjoy being the "weaker sex".

Getting to be pretty and like pretty things, wearing makeup and doing my hair, being married to my husband, having fun with girlfriends... I'm glad I'm a girl!

Amen! I'm glad God gave us all those extra neuro-transmitters so we can multi-task. I like being protected, too. I like being able to sit in a warm car on a cold day while my husband pumps the gas or scrapes the windshield.

I like being the weaker sex too. I think I moved maybe two boxes this move. Hehehe! When I think of what my hubby has to do at work (sucking bats into a shop vac, crawling in crawl spaces with rat poop and spider webs, spraying yellow jacket nests) it makes me glad that I get to stay at home with my kiddos! I'd skip the dishes part and Aunt Flo though.

I never enjoyed being female until I was pregnant, when I gave birth, and when recognizing the close bond that develops as a result of these experiences. Yet even later, at thoughtless times, there had been times when I wasn't real crazy about being a woman, until I finally submitted that part of of me to G-d, in recognition that He makes no mistakes. My generation is the one that began with many of our mothers telling us that because we were female, we had to sit quietly in a corner and crochet, or no man would marry us, and a man choosing to marry us was the best we could ever hope for. Everything within me balked at those ideas -- all of them. I wanted more. And my generation was one that reached out, taking by force, the "more." I do not fit well in the kitchen. Any successes I have there are purely serendipitous. That my house is clean is out of mere human necessity. But I love my babies (though they are in their 30s) and I loved the privilege of giving them birth, guiding their growth, watching them develop, seeing them create their own lives and bring me grandchildren. But now that they are on their own, I am glad to be out of the house, making a living. Because of my outside job, I am healthier, happier, more energetic, etc. than I would otherwise be.

Everything within me balked at those ideas -- all of them. I wanted more. I finished a book recently by Lynn Austin called, "A Woman's Place". The story was about four women during WWII and their different struggles with the expectation placed on women during that time. I know you don't go that far back, , but it was an interesting read.

Women, for many generations, have had to take what they have received, as a whole society, by force. That is just the way it has always been. The women of WWII went through it, and their children (my generation) went through it. Our female children, however, have had so much handed to them that it concerns me that they have had to fight for nothing. What the young women of today need to be fighting for is for the rights of men, which were lost when my generation swung the pendulum too far and took men's rights away as we were grasping for ours.

Shoes! Especially strappy sandals. And make-up, dresses, going to the salon, painted toe nails...all that girly stuff. I also liked being pregnant. Okay, so I complained about that when I was going through it, but looking back I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I've been thinking alot about this thread, and I really can't think of anything I enjoy doing that requires being female. I wouldn't mind having short hair, although I have medium length now. I wouldn't mind dressing in pants/shorts and shirts all the time. It's how I dress 99% of the time now, and I don't go for anything frilly or pink. My tastes are pretty simple. I love being a parent, but I didn't particularly care for pregnancy or nursing. My husband is male, but he's a fantastic parent, too. The "weaker sex" stuff bothers me. I consider it my responsibility to pitch in and carry stuff during a move. I can buck up and scrape ice off a window; it's not a big deal. I would prefer to have more strength, honestly. If I were male, I wouldn't be married to my husband, but I know for a fact there are many fine, Christian ladies out there. Can't really think of anything.

What specfic rights are you talking about? Legal rights? Or do you mean that some women don't esteem men as highly as the conservative right thinks we ought to? That we don't obey them like we ought to? That some men have to compete with women for jobs and such? I agree that courts are a litte to quick to give children to the mother in cases of divorce, but just because they aren't treated like demi-gods anymore, doesn't mean that they have lost any legal rights.
