The Gospel of Christ Jesus did. With the God of universe in Christ stooping down to make the ordinary man extraordinary through the Gospel America received grace upon grace from God. It wasn't the elite (who in rejecting God in Christ, profess themselves to be wise but are fools [Rom. ch. 1])...it wasn't the elite telling everyone what to do, how to think, who we get to vote for. It was God in Christ doing that.
There have been so many spin-offs - the great public school system the Puritans set up in America that is declining greatly now that the secular elite are at the helm; a prosperous middle class; no aristocracy (not yet anyway - Is Rush right about Obama having an aristocratic outlook?); ordinary men made extraordinary through the Word of God; great universities which were founded by outstanding believers - Harvard, Princeton (now, again, taken over by the secularists), a strong family unit with low divorce rates until the psychologist and psychiatrists took over.
...The Apostle Paul...an elitist I can live with.
