No doubt we've all learned something about ourselves, since signing on to CW, that will benefit us in marriage someday if the Lord wills this for us. What have you learned?

1). I've learned that I don't communicate as well as I'd like to, which has unfortunately resulted in some misunderstandings. (I try to be humble and apologize if/when this happens).

2). I've learned it's not wise to post when I am tired or in a rush since that increases likelihood of #1 happening.

3). I've learned to be a little more gracious with others who may be having an off day and post something that is out of character for them. Some of us post numerous times daily and we are likely to offend someone unintentionally at some point. It helps me to remember this, give the benefit of the doubt and keep things on a light-hearted since we need each other in the spiritual battle.

1. I've learned how to talk to people (women) again. When I was married I intentionally kept my distance from most women. I've learned, a little at least, how to relate again.

2. I've learned to be more cautious (gentle) in voicing my opinions. (Hard to believe, I know) There are opinions I hold pretty strenuously that others do not agree with (although I still don't understand why not). Since some of these opinions are personal preference based and not biblically based I've learned that others may hold contrary positions and be just as right as I am. These same people may be offended or even hurt when I voice my preferences.

3. I've not learned how to flirt.

Does this mean that you have learned nothing from fellow flirters on how to flirt, even in real life?

I have learned to be very, very careful of what I write and how I write it. People form impressions of you based on your written words and what you disclose about yourself. While I believe "transparency" is a desireable quality for people to have, in an "anonymous" forums environment, too much transparency can be potentially dangerous. I'm careful not to say anything here I wouldn't want repeated on the nightly news or in front of the whole church.

I've also learned to be succinct.

I'd be in a lot of trouble if my posts ever got broadcasted . Not to mentioned I'd be turning beet red..oh..what a minute...what color does your skin turn when you are embarrassed (did I spell that correctly) if you happen to be Black ?

A long time ago I learned not to say or do anything I wouldn't want my mother to know. Of course sometimes I forget what I learned then I am in big trouble I try to keep that in mind when I post- then we go back to sometimes I forget......

I have learned some excellent techniques on searching the internet to find out more about any/most persons who post on crosswalk.

I have learned that people rarely type exactly what they mean.... unless you ask them, and they will say that they did indeed.

where singles are concerned, I have observed that like in any social setting there is always a struggle for acceptance. someone is elevated to "alpha figure" which makes for a bunch of dogs sometimes.

Yep. Disturbing, but somehow not surprising.

So, doer. What have you learned? And what was your motivation for using said techniques?

In all honesty, this Forum is one thing helping to teach me that I'm not a worthless failure as a human being which nobody wants around.

I realize that sounds harsh, but that is indeed how I viewed myself for a long time. And there are days I still struggle with it. Which is why this Forum has been such a blessing to me.

Searching here on CW or the Internet in general? The only other site I'm aware of out there that has any information about me is facebook. Of course some court records are public. My biggest concern though is identity theft. Just this morning, I had to notify the credit bureaus about someone attempting to open up a line of credit in my name. I'm hoping is was just a random thing and not a series of attempts to hijack my identity. I'll know more when I get my credit reports though but it's unnerving not knowing who it was or how they got my info.

So, it involves deception?

So, doer. What have you learned? And what was your motivation for using said techniques?

about 4 years ago, someone told me about someone else's personal website... It was cool, and I asked " how did you find that?" that was the 1st of many more little tips.

motivation...... above all else it is care, love, curiosity, geekiness, and challenge.

Why not just interact directly with the "poster" to learn from them that way?

(((Robb))) I think you're a pretty cool dude!

What have I learned here on CW ... Christians have the same or similar hangups and issues as nonChristians.

It's a good place to share my faith, and I'm blessed that I have been able to say some things that have helped others - which makes some of the painful things I have gone through all worth it.

I have also learned more about God through others' experiences and trials.

As a single (again - but a Christian single this time), I have learned what to look for and what to avoid.

I interact with at least 20, a good start, I hope the number keeps growing.
not deceptive at all/whatsoever.

Tit 1:15 To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.

I have learned that you can rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep whether you have met them in real life or not

I have learned that there are a lot of people all over the world whom, though I will never likely meet them in person, are wonderful people

I have learned that meeting some people here IRL is a real um er experience...

I have learned that just because you don't agree with someone, if you take time, you can come up with an intellegent counterresponse without name calling, rudeness, and judgement...

I have learned to fix computer glitches (or when to kill them)

I have learned the superidentity of one poster and that he wears blue tights as part of his crimefighters costume

i'll think on this...

Just curious, doer. Why cite Tit 1:15? How does it fit into this discussion?

"so it involves deception" that is a verse that is a response to your question. I thought it fit pretty good because you get what you are looking for. and if you are looking for the good in things, that is what you will find.

when someone loses their ability to find "the good", in someone else, or something; their ability to understand follows close behind. God is sooooo good at fixing that.
but I learned that IRL, not at CW

I have learned that some people's screennames describe them well, while for others, I just tell myself 'wishful thinking'
