Hey everyone! I am reading Exodus now and got to Chapter 4:23-25 and got stumped. In v.23 God tells Moses what to say to Pharoah and then in Exodus 24 it says God sought to kill him...him being Moses and at first I was trying to figure out why would God want to kill Moses and what prevented him from doing it, but as I was writing these words I had an AHA! moment and I think it's because in v.27 God tells Aaron to go to the wilderness to meet Moses, so I got the impression that Moses didn't go to Pharroah like God told him to. Am I right? and that's why God wanted to kill him. Now what stopped him and why did Zipporah do that terrible thing to her son and then throw it at Moses. That was so ugh and you can't help, but visualize it. Why was Moses a Bloody husband to her. Well I have many more questns, but these are enough for right now.

Peace
Dae

This is a very complicated passage. Adonai was not seeking to kill Moshe(Moses) because he was delaying to go to Eygpt. Adonai sought to kill Moshe because he had not circumcised his son as Adonai had directed through his forfathers. How, could he be representing Adonai if he was not identifying his son as a child of the promise? Zipporah saved her husband by preforming the circumcision herself. Now, her comment regarding him being a husband of blood does not have to be taken as an insult to him. She could have been noting that now that she had circumcised his son he was now a husband of the covenant(of blood). Blood is often used in the scriptures as an idiom of the covenant. Yeshua(Jesus) tells us that the Pesach(Passover) cup is the covenant in his blood. That does not mean that that cup is literally His blood, but a representation of His redemptive work in accordance with the covenant. Also, it is not clear whether she through the foreskin at his feet or was merely placing it there, presenting it to her husband as proof of the act being completed. Thus, Moshe is now fit for service since he is now a husband of blood(the covenant).

This is one of those interesting questions indeed.
And it's always those questions that get skipped over in the commentaries.
I wonder why? LOL.

In the TaNaKh, the commentary side insinuates that one possible thing is
that these are "fragments" so much is left out and to the imagination.

My educated guess would be Moses was sent on a Covenant Mission, but
was a violator of the Covenant. Circumcision is the "sign" of the Covenant.
One commentator says that Zipporah threw the foreskin at Moses private parts.
Speculation at best. We can't really know for sure. But we would like to know
wouldn't we? lol.

God was with David as he slew Goliath. David was a Covenant man while
Goliath was an "uncircumcised Philistine." Meaning he was not a Covenant man.

The Bible is truly an amazing read.

This is what the Lord told Moses to say to Pharoah:
Exodus 4
19 And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life.
20 And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.
21 And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.
22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:
23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.
24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.
25 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.
26 So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art , because of the circumcision.

AND this is what Moses said

EXODUS 11
1 And the LORD said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether.
2 Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold.
3 And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people.
4 And Moses said, Thus saith the LORD, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:
5 And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.
6 And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
7 But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.

8 And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger.
9 And the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you; that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.
10 And Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: and the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go out of his land

Could it be because God knew Moses would disobey Him? Moses became prideful and said his own words, not the words of God.
I think the circumcision of the son of Moses by his wife was a plea for God to remember the covenant God made with Israel and have mercy.
