Welcome to the Random thread for the month of October.

Normally we see this as the beginning of leaves falling from trees.

Well this is the place where your random thoughts fall from your brain.

Let the leaves fall!

Hey rae_of_light, is that you playing the violin?

How long have you been playing?

My oldest three have been taking lessons and my 17yo daughter is pretty good.

Do you have any of your playing uploaded on the web?

Yes, that's me, but in that picture I'm playing the viola. I started playing the violin when I was either 5 or six, I can't remember. When I was 13 I started the viola, but it's not all that different, so all in all I've been playing for about 11 years now! How many years has your daughter been taking for?
I have some stuff uploaded somewhere, but it's stuff of me with a bunch of other people, and honestly, it's embarassing! I'm really not that good.

Cool, you're learning guitar! It's one of the best instruments invented in my eyes.
(I copied this from the other thread because it got closed) Yeah, guitar is pretty cool, but I'm going to have to disagree with your statement about it being the best instrument. I think that title would have to go to a different instrument, such as piano (I'm not being partial, I was a horrible pianist!)

I said one of the best, and I definitely agree that the piano is up there 2. I've been playing the piano for 10 years, and the guitar only for like 8 months. But it's still fun.

Wow, you must be really good at the viola! You've got to give me a link or something so I can hear.

No, actually I'm not very good at all. It's one of those things where "outsiders" might think I'm good (they don't know any better), but compared to most of the people in my music school, I'm pretty bad. I regret that I didn't practice as much as I should've all those years.

Well, from your avatar picture, your form and technique look good. I guess that's not much coming from me, seeing I don't play the viola, but still. And as for people being better than you in your music school, there will always be someone better than you at something.

You know about playing violin/viola/classical instruments??? Sweeeeeeeet! I wouldn't have thought you the type, but I guess I was wrong!

Oh yeah. Lord willing I will be majoring in music, so I have to know a little :) But what composers do you like? My favorite are Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart, and Debussy.

She's been playing for like 8 years or so.

You can hear her here:

I have been playing guitar for say, a year. So I am still in the beginners stage. It is so aggravating because I have all these neat riffs and tabs in my head but I can't play them or put them down on paper. Plus I am playing on a cheap remake of a Fender Telecaster. I hope to get a new guitar for Christmas.

But I have to say that guitars, pianos, violins, and drums are all equal to me. I love Melodic Rock, which puts all those instruments together. Skillet's last album has a few songs on it that have that melodic sound. That's why I am a huge fan of theres.

They have a Live Cd coming out this month and a piano tribute coming out next month. I hope they put a new album out soon. I heard John say, in an interview, that they were going to hit the studios in Sept. But i have not heard anything after that.

It's really cool that you play viola. I played piano for a few years now I play keyboard/vocals for my church's band. I played guitar for a month or two before I quit.

Nice! My music teacher wanted me to go to school for music, but then she later said "Don't bother, there are no jobs." I like all the "normal" composers. Tchaikovsky is one of my favourites. I also like Celtic music. Ever heard of Natalie McMaster?

Fritz, your daughter is good! Did she do Suzuki?

Justin... I just cannot see how you can think that drums are equal with piano and guitar and stuff like that. Call me crazy, but I just don't think drum playing is "music".

I don't know exactly how cool it is, but yeah. I'm not in it to be cool! What kind of band does your church have? It's awesome that you sing, I really admire people who can sing well!

Lol, I know what you mean. All musicians that I have heard of either get rich, or starve. So I'm also minoring in business, just in case.
Cool! I like Tchaikovsky 2. No, I've never heard of Natalie McMaster. Does she compose for solo instruments or for orchestras?

Keeping It Random: sometimes i dont use any puncuation when i type that way i have run on sentences but i cant have a sentence fragment because i dont use periods but at the same time i cant have a sentence that way either its really weird i think it has something to do with leaves falling from trees

Good plan, business is a good fallback.

Hahaha, I guess I should've chosen my words better... Natalie McMaster is a musician from Cape Brenton. She does fiddle stuff, and she's just amazing!

And on a more random note: I have to act normal tonight, and this weekend just might be the death of me.

Yes, her first teacher was a Suzuki teacher.

The teacher she has now is incredible too.

I love listening to her fiddle.

Why does most everybody misunderstand me? Is my writing ability really that bad?
I meant drums are equal in instruments. I don't like one over the other( except maybe the Guitar). I agree drums don't sound great by it's self, but it does with a band. A band with all those instruments I mentioned previously.

Come on... pink-green-brown-red striped? Not cheesy? Lol. Okay, what if I threw in blue and yellow. Would pink-green-brown-red-blue-yellow striped shoes be cheesy?

hmmm... just make sure you don't throw them in the wash.... then they would just be a pretty poopy looking color and that would be cheesy!
