I finally got mine back, and horror or horrors -- it's true. I look just like what Mommy Dearest must have looked like, just before she died.
Do you have any concept how I strongly dislike that woman?

Well, my photo is so bad that I am going to tape a preferred photo over it today, until I decide if it is worth it to go get a redo. It is seriously That Bad!
You don't like orange either? I used to think BLECH! on orange, unless it was in a dreamsicle, although I've always liked salmon, and lately, I've gotten a little more acclimated to orange.

So I copied and cut a small color photo of myself (taken in May), took some plastic packaging stuff, put the picture in the right place on my license, put that in the plastic packaging stuff, and used an iron to fuse my new "license photo" to the plastic.
My husband looked at it and said, "You can't do that!" My daughter said, "That's illegal, Mom!" My son just laughed. It's obviously not their photo, and the whole thing lifts off, should I be required to show my license to someone.

When I got my liscense back after not driving for 10 years, that picture turned out great.
The first time, I thought I had failed the test, so I was crying, and that picture was horrible.
The second time, I came in and said, "This picture will be terrible, " and the guy said, "No, it won't because I always take good DL pictures of people." And he seriously took the time and care that a photographer would, and it turned out really great! I only saw him that one time, but I love that man! He was cute too, I should've found out if he was single. Just kidding. I mean the last sentence, not that he was cute, he really was cute.

You ran into an unusual photographer, then.
All my years having this done, I have had only one who even gave a hoot! I told him, "Now, don't you make me laugh, because my eyes will skrinch up, and it'll look terrible." So he make some funny wisecrack, I laughed, and he took my picture. I couldn't even be mad at him, because he really was a nice guy.
This last one was a complete grump, which is unusual in WA. Most of our state workers are actually very, very nice.
Edit to say that I think they connect electrodes to the ones taking the state photos, and these pass through to the cameras, completely effecting the photos, either making them better or making them worse.

My picture looks like it belongs with the police photos from the paper depicting the latest felon arrested. I was trying to look pleasant, but I look like a hardened criminal.

I had to show my new license to someone for the first time yesterday. The experience was horrid. Since my check number was under 1500, the store I was in demands that the manager okay it, so not only did I have to show it to the cashier but also to the manager.
The cashier immediately saw that I have placed a photo over the license's original and looked up at me as though to say, "Do you think I am an idiot or something?" I lifted the plastic, to show her the Mommy Dearest photo, explaining, and she had a real good laugh. Especially since the photo on my license is one my husband took that is a copy of the "Got milk?" photos -- a bright-white "milk" moustache glistens above my lip.
But the manager was about to accept the photo! She looked at it, looked up at me, and was about to sign off on the check, when I, sort of panicked, lifted the corner and showed her the original photo! She gave a little sheepish laugh, signed off, and went on her way.
Good thing they taught the cashiers to be more attentive, because the manager would have let it go!

I have had some interesting experiences with my new driver's license with my "better" photo covering Mommy Dearest.
I really like the "Got milk" photo that covers Mommy Dearest. I think I look really good in it, for a 59-year-old!
So I was talking about my Mommy Dearest license, and the person apparently didn't hear me say that I had covered the "Mommy Dearest" photo over. I showed her the "fixed" license, and she looked at my (cuter) "Got milk" photo. With dismay, she said, "It is pretty bad, isn't it?" And a man looking over her shoulder said, "Yeah. That doesn't look like you!"
Then today, I had to show my license for ID because I was using my cred card from work, to buy office supplies. She laughed at the (cuter "Got milk?") photo and said, "Yeah. That's pretty bad."
I'm going out to the garden to eat worms!!!
