what do the christion men on here think and how different is that sort of piercings different than just getting your ears pierced. When a female gets her ears pierced no one says a word but let her get something else pierced an she is bound for hell.

I do not think that body piercings are attractive and they usually convey very culturally defined messages. Ear piercing is so old everyone is used to it. Nose piercing is also very ancient. It's very modern, and in my opinion a form of self-hatred, when people get other things pierced such as genitals, eyebrows, bellybuttons, etc. Do I think it's a condemn-to-hell thing? No, not at all. Do I think it's a healthy-wonderful-joyful thing? No, not at all. I view it similarly to my view of tattoos.

The only one that bothers me is the tongue dumbbell. I don't understand why anyone would purposely give themselves a speech impediment. Otherwise their all just another form of decorating.

Ditto to D200. I don't care for tattoos, and don't care for body piercings. They basically advertise an "alternative life style" which does not appeal to me.

I'll also ditto most of d200. Except that I like the belly button piercings (if she has the right belly for it) and detest the nose piercings.

Thanks to all for your responces, but I do have one question. What is considered an alternative life style. I am a housewife that loves her hubby and mother of 4 children ranging in age from 11-24. I drive a school bus for the Elem. School where I live. And my family goes to a great church were we serve the Lord. We shop at Wal-mart or the neighborhood fruit stand. We enjoy the lake and camp when ever we can. We visit friends and family an do things with them, like cooking out, ridding 4 wheelers, going to yard sales and flea markets. I love to cook. So what is an alternative life style for someone with tattoo's or body piercings. Just wondered. If it is the shareing of one's spouce or drugs or anything of the sort sorry that is not for me or my family.

But that does not mean it is self hatred any more than guys my age having belt length hair back in the '60s was self hatred. Much of it was to fit in with a chosen social group. I see piercings as the same, at least those for public display. I do not know enough about gentital piercing (clearly not for public consumption) to really comment other than some say in enhances sensations. As such, I do not think this is a symptom of self hatred either.

A simple ear piercing is ok in my eyes...however, my personal feeling is that multiple piercings on ears, or single/multiple piercing on face, nipples, genitals etc etc is not attractive at all. Have you ever wondered what you'll look like when you're a grandmother? Like it or not, first impressions count for alot....that's the way of life.

My wife recently got her nosed pierced. It was not at my request though. I think it is cute and it doesn't bother me one bit. Before our marriage she had other piercings that she has let heal. I do have a problem with multiple piercing, I think after a point it just seems a bit freaky.

Some body piercings come with an inherently high risk of permanent damage. Tongue and genital piercings most notably can cause permanent nerve damage that can occur even with a skilled person doing the piercing. Personally, I think that whatever fashion or pleasure is being sought by such piercings is most certainly not worth the risk. I'd consider any such risky piercing as a sign that the person who got it was highly immature when they did.

Do I think some of them are risky, healthwise? Yes. Do I think there's anything morally wrong with body piercings? No. Do I find piercings (other than ears) attractive? No.

It is not a matter of what others think is right or wrong but what is it that God is telling you. 1 cor. 10:31 whatever we do, do unto the glory of God. lev. 19:28 speaks against marking our bodies but we are not living under the old law. So ask yourself and God what is right? It does not matter what looks cool or if it is a turn on for guys and/or if everone else is doing it BUT! WHAT IS GOD TELLING YOU ABOUT YOUR BODY?

Well, guys having their ears pierced is biblical Deut 15:12 - 18 (ESV) 12“If your brother, a Hebrew man or a Hebrew woman, is sold£ to you, he shall serve you six years, and in the seventh year you shall let him go free from you. 13And when you let him go free from you, you shall not let him go empty-handed. 14You shall furnish him liberally out of your flock, out of your threshing floor, and out of your winepress. As the LORD your God has blessed you, you shall give to him. 15You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God redeemed you; therefore I command you this today. 16But if he says to you, ‘I will not go out from you,’ because he loves you and your household, since he is well-off with you, 17then you shall take an awl, and put it through his ear into the door, and he shall be your slave forever. And to your female slave you shall do the same. 18It shall not seem hard to you when you let him go free from you, for at half the cost of a hired servant he has served you six years. So the LORD your God will bless you in all that you do.

colliefan: Yes, indeed. It's both an up to date fashion conscious thing and also a very ancient thing that is also in the Bible. Does your husband have pierced ears, and do you have a son with pierced ears, or would you let a son, or encourage a son, to pierce his ears? Take care. quote:

Does your husband have pierced ears, and do you have a son with pierced ears, or would you let a son, or encourage a son, to pierce his ears? Despite my femine sounding moniker, I am a single guy. If I had a son I would discourage it, the decision would be up to him. One reason I don't like it in guys is due to my prison ministry experience. In the prison culture, pierced ears indiacted if I one was "avialable" or "taken"; an earning in the left ear meant one was taken and one in the right ear meant one was "available." In today's culture, its just jewelry. A bluetooth in one's ear and one walking around as if one is talking to himself is another story. But I am just a curmudgeon.

Here's my opinion on the subject. quote:
When a female gets her ears pierced no one says a word but let her get something else pierced an she is bound for hell. . Getting ears pierced is on thing, they make a woman look good. Getting eyelids, cheeks, lips, nose, forehead, genitals, belly buttons, tongue, etc. pierced makes you appear to not be comfortable with yourself. It also gives a bad impression. You know, like what was mentioned above, the "alternative lifestyle" of drug use or promiscuity. Those immediately come to mind when I see body piercings. In my opinion, men and women look better natural -- just the way God made us. But clothed, of course.
