Jenny!

It figures! They kill her off on the episode where she was actually likable!

And the ending was a shocker! New NCIS Director Leon Vance transfers Tony, Ziva, and Tim!

I knew they were killing her off when she had that conversation with Mike Franks about some terminal disease she had.

Seems like they are lifting a page from House last season. Dump the current team and bring in a new one.

And what is with the new director lifting his last performance report out of his file and destroying it?

.
I may not watch it next season.

I thought the diner was supposed to explode. Didn't they show that in the previews, or is my imagination running away with me again? It's gonna be interesting to see who the "new team" is. Reminds me a little of JAG when Harm left JAG and was flying a crop duster. They brought him back, then.

I don't think that all of them are leaving the show. Yes, Jenny was killed off but the others will be back, though they will probably drag it out through several episodes next season. I believe this because the producers would be out of their minds to dump four out of seven regular cast members from one of the most successful programs on the network. That only happens when the ratings are showing a drastic decline and it is usually a last ditch effort to avoid cancellation. I don't think that is the case here.

On the other hand, Law And Order SVU did dump three of nine cast members in their season finale last week.

I thought they pulled it off pretty well.

The crew change is also reminiscent of CSI: a couple years ago when Eckley tried to bust up Grissom's team.

They KNOW nobody will watch if they break everyone up.

Whoa! That was quite an ending, wasn't it?! I about jumped off the love seat when Director Vance gave Ziva, McGee and Tony their new assignments. I hope that it's only temporary. Do you suppose that (in their plot concepts) that it's out of spite for their absolute loyalty to Gibbs? Or is it just another politcal wonk bringing in his own people? Oh well, I guess we'll see in September, won't we!

I think it's just a test. They'll still be helping Gibbs somehow and they'll all wind up back together after a few episodes. I really don't think they'll eliminate all of them for good. They're just basically being punished for what happened with Jenny. When the person you're protecting tells you to leave, that's a sure sign something is up. You don't just leave security detail like that, and Ziva knew it.

I don't know what Leon shredded, but they did an awful lot of "erasing files" last night. Makes you wonder how by-the-book he really is.

Ok, if I'm dying and I'm about to go on a mission that I might not live through and there's a problem with the 'asst director' - there would be another copy of that report somewhere for Gibbs to find!

Did anyone else catch the part early in the episode when Ducky referred to McGee as "Probie?" I died laughing because that was so unexpected from Ducky and the look on McGee's face was priceless!

In the USAF, personnel files exist in three locations. They are all identical. The unit's admin office has a copy for the unit. The base's personnel center has a copy. The third is at the Air Force Military Personnel Center in San Antonio. Taking one form out of one set would make the omission obvious when the other records were reviewed. How the Navy does this I don't know but will ask an old salt I know.

Marcus, I retired from the AF five years ago and at that time there was one copy of my service record and that was kept at the base personnel office. What my unit had was things that they generated. It was far different from what the base personnel center had. In fact, the 1st Sgt. told me that what they kept in the orderly room was not allowed to be in my personnel file and vice versa. My orderly room had no copies of my performance reports or anything like that. As far as the AF Personnel Center in Texas, what they had on me was different as well. When I retired, their record had to be shipped to my last base so that the records could be filed together at the records depository in Missouri. There were some duplications of documents between AFPC and what was at the base personnel office but the records were not even close to being exactly the same.

That is pretty much what I thought too.

Even though (or perhaps because) Gibbs doesn't play politics that doesn't mean he has no political assets to bring into play. He has "ticked off" a lot of people, true, by being right rather than correct...but that doesn't mean that they don't know that they owe him...nor does it mean that he is without allies.

I don't look forward, though, to watching another cast member being sealed in a booby trapped air tight container being devoured by whatever fire ant equivalent as the team (acting covertly from their newly assigned areas) race to find their imperiled friend..... and reunite the team.

I suspect that the document Leon shredded will be key, I didn't catch whose file it came from...or was that stated/shown? If only we could forward a tivo copy of that scene to our favorite "probbie" so that he could work his techno magic to enlarge and make it legible.

I have a feeling that the shredded document was something that could be potentially incriminating to the entire team. If I were writing, I would make Leon the team's ally trying to make them all safe from anyone trying to pry into the recent events. Separate them temporarily and then bring them back together under the radar.

I think it would be a good twist to have Leon protecting what's left of the team, so to speak with Jenny's death and the murder of the Frog still being considered questionable.

Just something to think about...

The document came from Leon Vance's own file. His picture was in it.

Hmm..could've been a letter from him to be reassigned or whatever and he changed his mind.

I dunno, but I hope they do something with more meat to it than the obvious "new director needs to show everyone's who's boss" thing.

Guesses for the new team? Germaphobe, Palmer's girl (both have been undercover before) - don't know why I can't remember either one's name. Can't think of anyone else who has participated in cases recently other than these two ladies.

They could all be going undercover for some big operation and being separated may be important for any probe into Jenny's activities/past. I'm not sure that story line is completely closed.

Leon Vance could be an ally, or a pain, or a pain who is really an ally. Will be interesting to see which he turns out to be.

Well, if you think about it, reassigning the team does make sense. Tony has been with the team at least 5 1/2 years (if you count the JAG pilot episodes), McGee for 4 1/2 years (halfway through season 1) and Ziva for 3 years. Three to five years seems about right for an assignment change so that a persons career doesn't stagnate.

Don't get me wrong. I don't like the idea of all of them leaving but I do understand it if they are trying to make it more realistic and true to life.

I have tivo and I slowed down the scene where Vance pulled that document out of his file and shredded it and I could not figure out what it was. It was more than a letter though.

Wow - we just watched this tonight. I'm in shock.

I was pretty sure it was Jenny who was going to die, but the reassignment thing floored me. I was liking Leon towards the end of the episode, until he pulled that. I'm hoping it's something like what some of you were saying about protecting them.

I cannot stand Palmer's girlfriend - I hope she doesn't come back.

There's some fun video at http://www.cbs.com/primetime/ncis/video/ including some questions put to the cast. But if you watch the cast interrogations, note that the intro is on ALL of them and gets annoying.
