Let me see...we have a governor who want to shut Christianity up in California (Cannot condemn people to hell because it may be against the law soon with churches) and now this state want to endorse Adam and Steve?

Jerry and James must be turning over in their graves right now, God having seen fit for them to get out of this crazy world, which is getting idotic by the minute.

Amazing....

Your prejudice against the Golden State is well known. It's those types of comments by you and others with their drivel against our state that makes me wish we were still the California Republic. You can go sulk at your lake.

I am not prejudiced against the state, I am prejudice against it's judges, attitudes, and policies. The land is great, I just wish a more noble people inhabited it.

And don't worry Jack your state will be added to the legalized gay marriage list when the US Supreme Court rules on it within the decade so we'll all be in the same boat.

Oh, exactly, which is reason number #5623 not to vote for Obama, that we might forestall the overthrow of a fundamental human institution for a bit longer.

OK, that's old news (by aday or so.) Well, people laughed when abortion was made legal in '73 and said those who warned it would lead to leaglized euthanasia were nuts. Doctor-assisted suicide is legal in Oregon.
They laugh at the thought of polygamy being legalized as an offshoot of
gay 'marriage'. At this rate, we'll go to hell in a handbasket, laughing all the way!

Like it or not, it's happening.

California Supreme Court finds a ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional.

Looks like that's the final say for California, as the decision cannot be appealed to the US Supreme Court.

Ellen is getting married.

You do realize there are only 7 judges total on the California Supreme Court?

Well yes, 3 of the 6 voted to overturn the the statute, 3 voted against. And of course the only Democrat voted for, making a majority.

Of course, California is noted for it's rather liberal Republican Governors in the last few cycles; and so that they appointed liberal judges doesn't suprise me too much, particularly as the issue wasn't even a concern when most of these people were appointed. And the people of California have the right to recall such judges, if they had the intestinal fortitude to do so.

What I find amazing is that Schwarzenegger's only appointment voted conservatively. What are the chances of that?

How is it possible that 3 Repubs voted for it?

Well, one doesn’t always know what party a judge is affiliated with; we know who appointed them, but not necessarily how they themselves feel about certain issues. And in California it sounds like judgeships are more like political appointments than they are about judicial philosophy.

Yeah, usually requires two to three days of bed rest.

Well, so I have heard. There isn’t a lot of evidence to prove it though.

simple...and honest question here regarding the "decision" by the California court....

Everyone is complaining about these "activist" judges...thwarting the "will of the people" and all that sort of stuff. Right?

So...the courts were instrumental in the desegregation of schools (at the time, a huge "thwarting" of the "will of the people" back in that day and time).....the courts were instrumental in ending the bans on "interracial marriage" (again, thwarting the "will of the people")...

All of the comments that have been discussed about THIS court case, was probably said about the others I had mentioned....

• God having seen fit for them to get out of this crazy world, which is getting idotic by the minute.
• The land is great, I just wish a more noble people inhabited it.
• I fear this country is asking for God's wrath in spades...

Comments similar to those above were likely made once the courts decided that it was perfectly legal for ALL children to attend school together, regardless of race...and that it was OK for any one to marry, regardless of race......even though, most "church going Christian" folks were convinced that these things were BIBLICALLY WRONG, and, therefore, steadfast against it.

The late, well-known pastor of First Baptist Church Dallas, Dr. W. A. Criswell, became quite well known for his sermons which taught how WRONG "desegregation" of the schools were....and taught directly from the Bible on the matter.

Were those other court decisions determined by "activist judges"?....because, we all know that those very rulings "thwarted" the "will of the people".....and were considered as pushing ahead an "evil" and "anti-Biblical" agenda???

So, which is it? and, which one is what?

The passages on homosexuality are as clear cut as the ten commandments. I would never say the same about race.

Well, the rest of California and I salute you for this comment. I'm sorry we don't live in a perfect state such as yours!

We all know about the Biblical principles regarding homosexuality but show me a legal reason why THE STATE cannot perform legal unions (marriages) of gay people. There is no legal reason I see that the state can deny them this.

When they try to force churches to do this then I'd have a problem with that. Then the government has truly overstepped their bounds!

In that case why can't the state allow anything that we would consider evil? Murder, theft, rape, etc.

The government doesn't consider it "evil" just "illegal". For example, if I killed someone because they killed a family member, that's murder and illegal. If the state killed someone because they killed my family member, that's execution and legal.

You can object to homosexual marriages on religious or moral grounds but not on legal grounds through objectively applying the law especially as it pertains to the US Constitution.

no such thing.

So this bishop disagrees with the doctrine of a church....he just wants to keep the stuff the church gave him...hmmm. Pony up dude and step out on your own and leave all that stuff behined. If the position is the right one, why associate yourself in any way with the past affiliation?

A state-funded organization in Maine touted as "a stellar program for social change" is advertising a seminar that essentially provides information to impressionable school-age boys on how to be homosexual, according to a pro-family organization opposing the plans.

Then you have organizations funded by the government that promote homosexuality. Can you sence some hypocracy here? The only way homosexuality can spread is through promotion and the government here seems to be saying with its monies...we support homosexuality and promote it and are also going to quiet any opposition to homosexuality and we don't care about freedom of speach to accomplish this.

This constitutes child abuse.

Homosexuality was a criminal offense since the beginning of the country. In fact it carried the death penalty in the 1700s.
