Yes, and I haven't seen the movie! This book has everything in it--everything! Spiritual encouragement, devotional truths, beauty, crime, poverty, wealth, everyday life...everything is there!

We are getting the house so clear, I love it! I don't want to unpack. We just have basic kitchen things and our clothes and a few books, and everything else is in boxes or ready for the last moving sale! I so love it, easier to see what I need, no having to look for something or move something out of the way, and will be easy to clean!

Hi, Trish and Maggie! I'm so glad to see you back in full force again, Maggie! We haven't got a definite date for moving till we sell our house.

We had two rooms painted today. Another bedroom and the bathroom tomorrow. Probably all the house will be done by Friday. Then it'll be new carpets and we can get the house on the market.

Too bad you're not going to be enjoying the house in its refurbished state! I have another friend who's done this. She put in new floors and painted the entire house and it looks absolutely gorgeous and now she's selling. It seems crazy to me. You have no choice, you have to sell. She doesn't. I hope your new home will be as spruced up as you're making this one!

Maggie, it's amazing what a coat of paint and new carpets can do for the price of a house! But since we cleared stuff out, we've got everything arranged just the way we'd like it. The rooms finally look restful and that's just what I'm planning to do when we move--to not bring back the clutter! Hope you are keeping warm in the cold, cold weather.

We should have our house on the market next week, Trish. That is over two months beyond our target date. Even so, we are just movin' along taking every day as it comes.

Hi Joy! We are getting two new windows on April 5th then I plan to start some painting to freshen (update) our home as well! I can't wait!!
I don't know about Cali, but WI the home sale market is way down. Hopefully yours goes quickly!!

My thread is pretty quiet as well...but I figure it's because I haven't and don't really have the time to keep up with everyone elses...so I probably deserve quietness in mine. (by the way...thanks for your prayers in there)

As usual...I have to get off now after catching up with one thread (a couple pages) and posting. Have a great day!!!

The housing market is crazy here. People state what they're asking for the house and then prospective buyers bid UP from there. It's insane. I cna't believe what our neighbours' houses have sold for. Mind you, our house needs fresh paint in most places and a few other things too (besides major decluttering).

Hi, Sheila and Maggie and others who may come here later!

I can see why you can't wait, Sheila. It's nice to make improvements on the house! Ours is beginning to look sparkling clean (newly painted outside and in almost all the rooms now) and carpets being put in today and tomorrow. We have reduced the amount of furniture a litte and got rid of clutter. I love it, and now we have to move! Weekend of April 5 is when we are having our third and final moving sale. It will be Thurs.-Sat. This time we are really coming down on prices. It's the only way to move the stuff! Last time we sold more on Thurs. & Fri. because parents taking their children to school dropped them off and came back to the sale!

The realtor told us that it's the $200,000 and up houses on the market that are having the problem in CA. Ours isn't worth that much and he said it should sell without a problem. We haven't yet got it on the market and already have an inquiry from a prospective buyer! I have never heard of people bidding UP on a house, Maggie! Why would they do that? I don't think I'd do that!

Today the painter came at 8:30 and is doing the living room. The carpet people will be here at 11 to do the four bedrooms. Then tomorrow the painter will be in the kitchen and the carpet people in the hallway and living room. We will work in the garage sorting the items for sale. The living room and kitchen/dining space are not divided so they'll all be working side by side. The only thing that bothers me about that is, how I will get to the bathroom through all that chaos! LOL

yeah, Joy, it's crazy but it sure is happening and has been for at least a year. Even without the bidding up the house prices have risen a great deal so the bidding just makes them that more expensive. I was shocked the first time I heard of it happening but every house on our street that sold in the last year or two was sold for more than the asking price. Usually considerably more. And it's not just our neighbourhood. Crazy people!

Hi Joy. I haven't forgotten you. Just haven't been around CW as much as I used to be. Find it hard enough to get into my own thread at times.

I hope everything's going well for you and dh.

Good thing there's no requirements for posts. I'm having a hard time finding time to post online as well these days. I imagine the nicer the weather gets the harder it's going to get.

Sounds like how things were here during the late '90's. But now because of the mortgage crisis and the financial rates going up, so many people are being foreclosed upon that the housing market is going down instead!

Hi, Maggie, Sam, Trish, Slushie---Slushie!! welcome back!!!, Sheila, and Mike!

Is it because there's a housing shortage or what, Maggie? I live in central CA, Sam, a fair distance from OC. Trish, you are welcome whenever you can get here. Keeping you in prayer. Has it been that long, Slushie! I missed your being around. Come back soon! How's everything? Sheila, I would probably be dropped if there were a requirement, so I'm glad there isn't, too! I used to be in Humor and Games all the time, and now I don't go there very often. My forum times are considerably reduced, but I think of everyone even if I'm not around so much. Mike, this isn't the best time for us to be selling, humanly speaking. Thanks to the Lord that it's all in His hands!

I heard in another thread that you've been given some more ideas of how to improve the house. I hope they're not going to be too hard to accomplish.

I'm not sure what's behind the upwards bidding on homes, Joy. Maybe there IS a shortage.

Hi, John, Trish & Maggie!

We doing good, John. How 'bout you? Our church is planning a luau for us as a farewell before we move. One of the things they are doing is serving wild boar. It will be on display with an apple in its mouth. Is that how you do it there in Hawaii? As far as I know, that was old-time Europe as well.

The ideas we've been given are getting done this week, Trish. We had our last moving sale today and made enough to cover the expenses!
Thanks for your concern.

Maggie, I just wondered because if there weren't many houses available people might offer more just so they can get the one they want. I should tell my Canadian colleague about that. She wants me to tell her everything I hear about Canada! Of course, she is pretty well informed.
