.... oh! What a cool project!!

I wanted a Boston Terrier, too... that's what I was looking for when I got my dog, Roo (here's another pic. I can't find a good one at this moment!).... his profile said Boston Terrier mix...

Yeah.... right....

I'm sooo glad you get to spend some time with Mike! He's a pretty cool dude....

Roo doesn't look like a Boston, but he does look like he's having fun!

Yeah, we had lunch with Mike a year ago, and enjoyed him. We'd hoped to see him earlier this year, but of course we had the wheelchair fiasco. I feel cheated out of my summer!

Actually, I felt like a naughty little kid. I knew I shouldn't be doing it and that there might be consequences, but I did it anyway. All the time there was this little voice in my head reminding me how stupid I was being. I'm pretty sure that when the power went off, the little voice said, "Naa, Naa, Naa, told you so!" No, I'm not going crazy. I've always had arguments with myself.

Sue, it's my firm conviction that talking to yourself or even having arguments with yourself is not in the least little bit being crazy. (That's right John, keep talking, even though you know you'll sure as shoot'n say something dumb sooner or later.)

The only time you need to get maybe a little bit concerned is if the arguing with yourself leads to a knock down brawl...with yourself.

(OK, John, now you've made your point and hopefully somebody other than you will get a little chuckle out of it, now hit the OK button and post the message. You can do it. You can. Try it. Hit that OK button.)

The odds are much more likely that using your computer during a storm can toast your computer's power supply. It's better to turn it off. The power at our house has such a poor reliability history that I use a UPS power supply that my computer plugs into. If the power spikes, it protects the computer. If the power goes out, it gives me enough battery backup time to shut down the computer safely.

I have a power strip distinctly for that purpose.

Hi everybody.

I'm with Rach. I never thought I'd ever hear myself telling somebody that I'm glad they got plastered, but I'm glad you did, John.

How are you doing today, Deb and John?

Yes, we did enjoy seeing Mike yesterday. Getting to Leventhal Park was a headache, though...several streets didn't have curb-cuts, so twice we had to go in the street.

We're still talking about how much we enjoyed the time with Mike. We learned more about him, and I always like learning about people. Next time, we'll meet closer to his workplace. We passed a cafe near his work that we can get to safely.

If we don't get thunderstorms, I'll post more later.

Arrgh...I was stuck on Shar-Mar's thread for nearly three hours! I'd like more activity on my thread, but not that much! Now I don't have time to post about yesterday. But again, I'll say that we both very much enjoyed spending time with Mike!

How are you, Sue?

I'm fine. Not ready for August to be here yet. Won't be very long before school starts up again.

I'm not sure I can type everything that happened today, but I'll do a Reader's Digest version. Miss Fingernails called at 6:00 a.m. to say her pregnant niece had been in an accident, so she (Miss Fingernails) couldn't get me up. But a friend from church came at 8:00, and somehow managed to get me ready by 9:00, when the RIDE van arrived.

Sunday School was much better today than last week.

I'm glad you have church friends who are willing and able to help out on such short notice. Hope Miss Fingernail's neice and baby are OK.

We'll call Miss Fingernails tomorrow to see how they are.

As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted by a thunder storm, after class our missionaries from Burkino Faso presented me and John with three gifts from Africa in appreciation for our "work" on the Mission's Committee. (Really, all I do is forward email prayer requests to the church's Email Prayer Chain.) They gave John a wire sculpture of a gecko, which is brightly colored and very intricate. They gave me an African "doll" (really just head and arms) whose dress has two big pockets. She hangs on the wall, and her pockets hold keys, mail, or whatever. I asked then for an African woman's name that I could give her, and they said Biba (pronounced BEE-bah). Then they gave us a batik wall-hanging that's an African depiction of the woman at the well (John 4).

Needless to say, we were touched and overwhelmed!

As Sue already knows, John's left shoulder's been bothering him since Saturday night. We've called his doctor, and we're waiting for a return call. I hope it's nothing of consequence.
